FYI..

Nashvegas olympic and half will have new bike courses this year.  Keep an eye on S2F website for the public release of the course.  If you have been riding the old half course, you will be fine.  The olympic course is much harder.

I didn't say it was any easier, lol. I did the olympic course on Saturday and thought it was pretty challenging.  Definitely need your climbing gears.

jford2309  any idea of why they are changing it?

Not sure.  First I heard it was because so many people complained that it was hard.  But after looking at the new course, I think it might have something to do with road access.  I would imagine that raceday all but crippled the town with the highway shut down and almost all the roads on the other side of the river.

I am guessing that the road bike would be a better choice than the tri bike for this one? I did Oxford and it had about 750 of gain and if this one is steeper or more gain, i think i would be better served on the road bike. Thoughts?

Figures!  I do not do Branson this year because I do not want to climb the hills again and they go and change this course to make it more hilly???

Sorry if I jinxed it!

This is my first time competing in Nashvegas and I'm doing the Sprint...how is that course? Perhaps simple to you vets, but I'm a newbie to the Tri world and could use some assistance, thanks!

You will be fine.  The sprint is a short out and back on Ashland City highway.  I don't think you have any real climbs on your portion.

If you are local, the you could ride the route at any time.  The highway has a large shoulder.

As soon as they get the new course map up, I will likely make the hour trip up and see what it is like. I'll post thoughts when I get a chance.

Thanks so much, I'm not local so I am "tri"ing to get up there before the race.  My Tri bike was stolen 2 weeks ago so I am using my single speed training bike. Embarassed

I did the Annie Oakley last Saturday with it and it was a challenging, hilly course, but I didn't stop and the workouts and races on this bike are helping me get stronger, but I am at such a disadvantage when racing! I don't want to deal with those types of climbs like last week.

last year I had my bike stolen a week before Memphis in May!  I did the Sharpshooter Tri this weekend, and I hate the last 2 miles of that bike

The last 2 was brutal, I looked down and saw 9 on the Garmin and thought good about there, then I rounded the corner and looked up that last hill. My legs were on fire when I hit T2.

I just sent an e-mail to S2F wondering about the status on the bike course update. I'll post on here when I hear back from them.

I heard back from them, and she said that they hope to have the bike courses on the web-site by Friday the 24th.

Thanks, this is unusual for S2F to wait this late to post a course, wonder what the deal is. I am very anxious to see the course.

I am leading a group ride this Saturday @ 7:30 from the Riverbluff Park.  This ride will cover the Olympic distance course.  Extra mileage can be added for long course athletes.

I have also heard from a birdie that someone has marked a 'random' 20-21 mile route with bright pink cues.  Sealed   From, Riverbluff park, turn right onto Ashland City Highway, then left onto Little Marrowbone Rd (where the fire station is).  The cues will bring you all the way back to downtown Ashland City (approximately 20 miles).

They are leaving the Half bike course the same, correct? I plan to ride it Sunday morning and want to make sure I ride the correct course.

I know it was ridiculous and trying going up that last hill without any gears!  I made it and was proud of that accomplishment, but the bike prohibits me from getting a good time....until I get a new bike, that is!
