I'm looking at getting one of the Cycleops alloy training wheelsets and am debating between the G3 and the Pro Powertap. I'm wondering if the G3 is worth it if it is just for training. I figure I will put a G3 in a set of race wheels at some point so saving a few hundred dollars would be nice.

You have become addicted huh? How is the foot doing?  I can't really speak anything about power meters as I don't have one.

Haha, yeah a bit hooked. I figured since the next 6 months will be spent biking and swimming for the most part, I should become more efficient in my bike training.

As for the foot, I am switching to a set of Newton Gravities so I'm hoping that will delay or even prevent the need for surgery (a few people suggested switching to them). I'm going on my first run with them (3 miles) tonight once my wife is back. This is also my first run since Lake Stevens, but seeing as it is about 90 degrees right now I'm happy it will only be 3 miles.

Any more races this year?

I did one more sprint last weekend out in CDA.  Got 3rd in my age group.  Took 3 minutes off my time from last year so happy with that. Beyond that I will probably do a half marathon in October for fun.  Hoping that I get lucky and get signed up for IM Arizona next year.  I'll Lake Stevens again next year as it was fun.

What about you? Anything in the makings or just going to relax mostly?  What races next year?

Nothing in the pipe as of now. I will have to wait and see on racing next year. I may just focus on swim and bike through 2013 and start running in July to give myself a full 6 months of recovery if I do the surgeries. I don't know how I'll handle that long on the trainer, but I should be able to build a monster bike in that time. 2014 will either be Canada or maybe somewhere overseas for the first 140.6. If things heal faster than expected I may go back to Boise if they renew the race. I want to go after that course.

I'm somewhat thinking Cozeumul for 2014 during thanksgiving.

Just hope that your foot quits giving you issues so you can enjoy workouts and get back into the swing of things fully.

$400 ----->>>> 125g weight difference.

that's a hard one to justify, but hey, it ain't my money.

regardless- you'll love having a powertap.
