Age Group Rank = 1/?
Pre-race routine:

good breakfast and plenty of juice/water. Check in to transition early to get a good spot.
Event warmup:

1/2 mile run, 500 swim
Swim
  • 06m 30s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 18s / 100 yards
Comments:

went out a little fast on the first 100 but finished strong.
What would you do differently?:

keep a little faster pace consistently. I should be out of the pool with 1:10/100s.
Transition 1
  • 00m 37s
Comments:

Had a perfect rack position. Pretty much the closest spot to the bike out/in and run out. I didn't start with shoes clipped in, should have.
What would you do differently?:

practice T1 more on grass/concrete with shoes clipped into bike.
Bike
  • 35m 29s
  • 13 miles
  • 21.98 mile/hr
Comments:

After a little annoyance getting clipped in this was a good ride. First bike split over 20mph. Felt fast on the flats and stronger (I'm not ready to say I felt strong) on the hills. Really tried to keep the pace on the hills.
What would you do differently?:

Train smarter on the bike and add some leg strength this winter.
Transition 2
  • 00m 26s
Comments:

Good Transition. mistakenly yanked off my sunglasses and they went flying. Took a moment to find them.
What would you do differently?:

keep the sunglasses on...other than that was a great T2
Run
  • 20m 9s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

Pretty flat run course. Kind of interesting navigating around all the public users of the river trail. Somewhat of an obstacle course between the walkers, joggers, kids, and dogs.
What would you do differently?:

Push harder, it's only a 5k :)
Post race
Warm down:

walk 1/2 mile

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My mind.

Event comments:

Fun local race. Nice to bring home the win in a hometown event.
