Swim
Comments: I wanted to do better on this swim since my last one kinda sucked. And I did! That pace is a bit faster than what I do in a pool. yay. What would you do differently?: Nada. Transition 1
Comments: No probs. This time includes running up the hill. Well, OK, asthma kicked in running up the hill. But otherwise OK. What would you do differently?: Nada. Bike
Comments: on monika's borrowed bike. went OK. I didn't know how fast I was going since her computer is in kilometers per hour. (wow! I'm going 32 on flat ground!) haha. Had a little trouble with the gears at first. felt a little funny being upright. but obviously, I did fine. What would you do differently?: Using one's own bike is always preferable, but you can't always get what you want. Transition 2
Comments: had to make sure and get inhaler a few times. Was having asthma on the bike. Run
Comments: Felt a bit jelly-legged, but got over it. Then I had lower abdominal pain during most of the run. Don't know what that was about. I was hoping for a really good pace (under 11:00) after the May triathlon (10:20 pace!). But clearly didn't manage that. I still think the May tri was a fluke. I can't run that fast. What would you do differently?: running training has been a little lax recently. maybe that would help. maybe I could've pushed myself more. not sure. would have helped to have the heart rate monitor. maybe i should have done some bricks more recently than May. Post race
Warm down: walk around, drink water, get gatorade, eat burritos and oranges. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not sure. Running was my poorest performance. The bike may have been a factor. Asthma definitely was a factor. I could clearly shave some time off my transitions. Event comments: So I shaved some 6 minutes off my time! I met most of my goals. I ALMOST placed in my category. I had a great time with friends old & new. It was like the reunion race. I think I'll have to come do it again next year! NOTE: I have just realized that the woman who placed first in my division did not do the entire bike course. Her time for the bike (12:20) is clearly impossible for 11 miles. So I have adjusted my place accordingly. I sent an e-mail to the organizers. I don't know if they'll do anything after the fact, but she really should be disqualified. I want my medal!! :( Last updated: 2006-01-26 12:00 AM

Tea and luna bar. Get stuff together and drive out with Elaine. Hooray! (Although we were cranky at the time.) Signed in, set up transition area. We met up with Judith and Elizabeth. Helped Judith with her wetsuit. Quick prayer.
Got in the water. Cold getting in, but I was able to acclimate quickly. Did some strokes out and back. Practiced sighting. Stressed out about sighting. Did a few more strokes.
