I know those 2 combined are actually 66% of the race (sorry the math teacher in me came out), but "rolling" to some could be difficult to others. Some say Oceanside is "Rolling" but my friends say that some of the hills were killer. No worries, but the race does sound interesting.

If we are going for the mathmatical calculation, then it would actually be closer to 98% of the race.

1.2+56+13.1=70.3

56+13.1=69.1

69.1/70.3=.9829302987197724039829.....But, I digress.

Just bustin' your chops mathman!  Hope to see you out there.

You could also look at it from a time perspective not distance.  By the way, I always feel like I'm swimming uphill too.

Hey I am still on summer vacation for a few more days, so I am allowed to not think correctly.

I will have to build my heat tolerance and my humidity tolerance up if I want to do this one

spjon25 - 2012-08-09 1:07 PM How hilly is that area? What would the bike and run be like? That is my concern. It looks like there is a big incline out of transition and such. Anyone have knowledge of the area?

Same concern here. Living on the coast I find that sometimes what people call "rolling hills" can be difficult to someone that trains mostly on flat land

I work with a guy who lives a mile from the finish line and he's already waiting by his computer w/ a credit card & USAT info .

Spoke to him about the course, and he said the bike will be tough (his word). Said he does a couple charity rides out that way every year, plus some training, and mentioned the IM elevation chart does not do the hills justice. He's a regular HIM participant so no newbie opinion. YMMV of course, but its another perspective of a local. I may try to get down there for the race as well. Our company has an office there, and I could go for a 'site visit' and have the bike sent interoffice mail, perhaps .
