Is anyone going to the hocking hills tri Sept 8. I am thinking of doing it, it will be my first triathlon. Its a 400m swim, 20k bike and 5k run. Anyone familiar with this one...think it would be an ok starter. Thanks

Are you familiar with the area or the race course?  There are some real hills in that neck of the woods.

I can get the elevation on the run to pull up, but not the bike ride from the website.

I would be interested too in hearing how "hilly"  the bike ride is.   The run didn't look too bad.    Did anyone do this last year?

Hello,

I will be running this event. It will be my first Triathlon also.  I am coming down from Westerville to run in the event.   I'm sure I'm going to learn a  lot.

Hope you show up, looks like a lot of fun.  I just bought my first triathlon gear and it just came in today.   I wont be swimming in a wetsuit, just a regular tri top and shorts, hope the water isn't too cold.

Did you guys end up racing in it?  I did.  Seeing any results posted?  I wasn't impressed with the organization of the event, so am guessing result reporting won't be any better.

I did this race 2 years ago and had fun. Their organization isnt the greatest though but a fun race and fun people. I got there an hour and a half before race time and I beat the organization there...they were setting up transition in the parking lot about an hour before race time. Not sure of the accuracy of the swim as I was told..."just swim out to that buoy and back...we are moving it in place shortly". I also talked to the guy who was maybe the race director, and was also racing. He was an older guy and proud to show off his race belt made of old underwear elastic! lol His directions given me on the bike course was go out left of transition, follow the road up the hills, past Bill's house and turn right, then do a U turn right before you get to my house! very funny guy and very nice and personable. I had a great time there and liked the laid back atmosphere. Was a pretty small race with only about 50 or 60 racing that day. I would have done it this  year but they changed the date and didnt work out in my schedule. I will definately look for it next  year though.

I did the race,  had a good time even with the weather at first. for me it was a good first time race to enter. it didnt seem very organized like you mentioned but everything seemed to go smooth enough. someone told me the results would be posted on the tacosports.org website but ill be suprised if any results get posted .

Ya I would, im planning on doing some longer events next season but if it fits in the schedule I would do it. Biking roads were very smooth and well controlled I felt. Both run and bike had hills making it interesting.

Not sure if they are correct or just mine maybe. The time listed Is what the guy told me and had written down...but Im pretty sure I finished somewhere 10-15, has me listed as 4th. I forgot to start my timer until after the swim, and didn't stop it until a little after I finished(was my first race) caught in the moment I guess. so I don't have a time to compare.

He is not the race director but has been there for a while. I won that race twice and got 4th another year due to some bike issues. It was always a small event but i LOVE the course (the run course is awesome with that first long uphill).
