Swim

  • 600 yards
  • 02m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started off great... straight out... perfect corner on both left turns then winds pushed me wide right coming back to shore. The millfoil was so think that I actually stopped twice to get the weeds off my shoulders and neck. I know my Garmin is not really accurate for OWS but it had me twice the distance.
What would you do differently?:

Account for wind better.... train more for speed.

I'm still relatively new to triathlons and this was only my second OWS race.  I know it's not 100% accurate, but my Garmin 910 showed 756 yds.  That seems pretty close given my time.  I thought I swam very straight along the buoys until the last turn to head back to shore.  Sighting into the sun was difficult and I followed other swimmers a while before I realize I was way wide of the return buoys.  I'm sure that had something to do with the extra distance/time.  Weeds in the lake were terrible.  Great bike and run course though.

Very organized race.  Seemed like the transition area was going to be a little small for the number of racers but wasn't too bad.  Team Magic does a great job.

Thanks for the comments... I felt like I had a good swim... not spectacular but certainly not 2:30/100y either... was bumming to miss my goal of Top 10 in AG by 1 second... just fuels me to be stronger next year... Wink
