Hi all, I just promised someone from the challenge thread that I'd post an update thread so here it is.

The original one (from last year)  is here:

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=265534&posts=12&highlight=transplant&highlightmode=1

So here's the newest synopsis of what's going on.

I've actually been fairly consistent this year with the running and recently ran 14 mins continuous, which enabled me to complete 1 full kilometre.

The biking isn't too consistent but I've been able to get my speed up to about 8mph a couple of times. I'm hoping to continue working on this in an effort to complete a mini - sprint triathlon (which I didn't do last year because of the lack of consistency)

The swimming meanwhile is going great when it does go. I'm able to do 450m nonstop with the aid of rest laps (backstroke) every 4 or 6 laps of a 25m pool.

My goals are pretty much the same as I posted last year although the running one has now increased to 3k with a consistent biking speed of 8mph and 750m swim. I still haven't tried OWS but I'm hoping to at some point between now and November when I complete my first triathlon.

Great to hear that.  There is a groupd around here that is very involved in Tri's and Transplants.  They put on several races and go to many to promote organ donors  In case you are interested.

I would be interested if the events were closer, but their story looks pretty good anyway

That is great news! Great Story!

You might want to also check in at cardiac athlete. Just like the name says, people with some major cardiac work in their past, but back out there...from walkers to ironman.
