I'm looking forward to the race. It will be my springboard into next season to try and complete a HIM. Does anyone know how you get set up in a pace group?

Usually there is a booth at the expo that has pace group people there; they usually give you a pace band and an extra pace group bib to add to your shirt (so the group has an easier time staying together), the pace group leader will usually run with a sign stating the predicted finishing time

Wow- I haven't been keeping up with this thread and was so happy to see the list grow!  I'm very excited for this event!

What did ya'll put down for your projected finish time?  It would be nice if I was in the same corral as someone else.  I think I put down 2:02- although I'll probably be closer to 2:03 or 2:04- not sure yet.

Count me in... I've missed out on a lot of training due to a move to the VB area, but even if I have to walk it, I'll finish the bloody thing!

I'm looking forward to this race and getting the chance to meet so many other BT'ers!  My husband and I are heading down Friday and we aren't leaving until Monday.  It'll be a nice vacation (for him) and fun sports weekend (for me).

This will be my sixth RnR (done them all) and while it gets hot sometimes there is always plenty of support on the course. Not just the regular water stations, but also the people in the neighborhoods come out with drinks, food and hoses, especially on General Booth BLvd.

In case you haven't heard 3 Doors Down is the headline act at the concert.

Hi everyone. I'm new to this website/forum...and SO glad to be here. I don't know if I did this right, but I've attempted to add my name. My husband is also doing this race, but he's not a member on here yet. I am good friends with Joel (frb_3). I don't think he's running it this year. He is however coaching me for this run as well as the first ever OBX 1/2 marathon Nov. 12th. Are any of you doing that race?
The RNR 1/2 will be my first race ever other than 2 5k's. I'm really looking forward to the accomplishment!
I am also a hasher for those of you on here that have already mentioned our water stop. hashing is great as well as the hashers themselves. We're a little bit crazy sometimes, but very fun. =)

Yay for another addition to the BT list!  Where are the hashers having their beer stop this year??  Last year I think it was somewhere around mile 6 or so??

Thank you too Renee for the welcome!
I'll be great to meet you and the others! There's definitley a lot going on that weekend & lots of fun to be had!! =)

Hashers are people that run with a hash. A hash is a group of people that get together at whatever place is designated about a day or 2 or 3 before the actual run. We run here locally on Thursdays at 6 pm. It's different though because the way it's done is 1-3 people usually are what's called Hares. They leave first and lay a trail for everyone else to follow using cooking flour and throwiing it on the ground in blops. They get a 12 minute head start. Then the "pack" leaves to follow it. if you're fast or guess correctly which way they're going you can try to short cut & "snare" (which is tag) them. There's no prize...it's just a pat on the back kind of thing. You don't know where it's ending until you get to the end. You're not told that ahead of time (prevent snaring of course). =)
we then gather at the end and circle up & the rest I can explain another time because there's too much to type. It's really a load of fun. It's every week.

there are websites for hashing too. It's all over the US as well as most other countries. It was brought here from England I believe and brought by the military. you can google hash house harriers and find some websites. I'm sure there's probably a hash in your area...in everyone's area most likely.
ours is www.th3.org or a better one for us locally is www.onon.com

If my hip flexor is still feeling tight and I decide not to "race" it, I'll probably come back to corral #13 and pace you 2   That would be a lot more fun than me running my myself and getting injured afterwards.
