Looks like we just might get some of Ernesto. Running the rain - whoohoo! Or maybe it'll hold off until the last beer stop...

I'm not so sure about that.  Everything I've seen suggests that it will mostly clear out by Sunday...IF it actually ever gets here at all.  I don't really mind running in the rain but a tropical storm is likely to bring humidity...which I don't like.

Good. I prefer the beach - this time of year - when it's sunny. Maybe Ernesto will swing out to sea. It would still suck to drive up in that stuff.

I'm wondering how acurate those forecasts are for the weekend.  It was supposed to rain here yesterday and didn't.  It's supposed to rain this evening so we'll see if they're right.  If it does rain in VA Beach I hope it'll be gone come race day.  Last year the weather was great for the race!

From what I've heard in Richmond, most of the rain should be Wednesday - Friday and then scattered storms on Saturday and Sunday.  They are also expecting it to be cooler this weekend (mid-80s).  So far, they're right. It's starting to rain now.

So are we going to try to meet up under the letter B after the race??  Maybe I can make a sign to hold so we can recognize each other.

I'll probably be wearing my Iron Girl hat and have my Garmin 305 (aka personal lap top computer) strapped to my wrist in the race so look for me.

Hi Everyone,
I would like to meet after the run. That will be great. I am concerned about the swim Saturday. I think the water is going to be rough out there with the Hurricane/tropical storm. If anyone is up to meet for a cup of coffee. I would like to do that. Karen
P.S. Is anyone going to be in Corral number 17? I am going to try and a 2:30 1/2 marathon. I know its not fast but this race is a fun/run for me....

If the storm comes ashore down in NC the surf may not be up too much, and right now the forecast is for the rain to be through Friday night with a chance of t-storms Sat afternoon. I'm still game to meet on the beach at 9am Sat nd check out the situation then, if people still want to try to swim.

I also think that the plan is to meet after the race at the letter B. Depending on how fast or slow people are, time is hard to predict as far as meeting up. After the finish of the race the lines are usually long for post race food and post race beer; unless you're speedy like Joel and you'e done before the crowds. I'll be wearing a white singlet that has the BT logo that we used at Gasparilla.

I may be down to my bra and panties if it is hot!

seriously, I will have a black 'all3sports' visor, black shorts, black sports bra and maybe a white tank. I will be the shortest person oh and I will be there singing my guts out with my ipod!

Steph and I will show up for OWS, if I chicken out I will watch you all from the sand and just bake in the sun.

So can we grab the food/beer then go to the B??? It looks like folks will be finishing between 1:30 - 2:30 hrs (runnergirl is pacing for steph and I and we are shooting for 2:15...yes we are steph I don't want to hear your sob story!)

I'm still planning on doing the OWS.  I'll show up and if it's that bad we could always go out for breakfast or something instead.  A little rough water won't hurt me, unless there's a severe undertow or current or is really dangerous- then you can count me out.  But...swimming in choppy water is good practice.  You never know what the conditions on race day will be- a good example of this was St. A's this year.

I am thinking about writing "BT" on my calf for the race- anyone else?  Just in case anyone is looking for me.  And I'll be waiting at the letter B after the race.

And I'll be dragging Renee into the water for the OWS if it's not dangerous - (If you start drowning, I can practice my very rusty lifeguarding skills. And I won't give you a sob story about how my legs are gonna fall off).

Meeting by the "B" sounds good. At the CMM, we all got separated. 'Course, we'll only be doing 13.1 this time. Whoohoo! See y'all there! (And I have no idea what I'm wearing).

Since we're meeting at the 25th street lifeguard stand it should be an easy call as far as dangerous waters go; the life guards will have the red flags flying (no swimming) if there are rip currents. As far as the finish goes, the finish line food is usually off to the right past the finish line, the finish line beer is usually on the beach.

I am still planning on swimming on Saturday.  My husband is going to join us, too, so the two of us will be there.

I was thinking about writing 'BT' on my calf, too.  Then you can figure out who I am when you pass me.    Otherwise, I'll see everyone at the 'B' after the race.

I can't wait!

Just to let people know (out of towners).  Since the weather is Nasty right now (7 am on 9/1), if you are driving in from the North and want/need to stop, you're welcome to crash at my house.  I'm before the HRBT (Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel) and about 45 min - 1 hr from the beach.  Traffic will potentially be Nasty so I can even have people stay over.

We have 2 extra bedrooms and 2-3 couches.  So if you need to stop because of traffic, weather, or any other reason, Call me.

PM me if you're remotely interested/plan ahead.

Hey everyone!

Enjoy your swim in the morning. I'm driving in from NC tomorrow, but won't make it until mid-afternoon.

All of you speed demons will be 3-sheets to the wind by the time I cross the finish line...save at least one beer for me!

The only apparel item I'm sure of is my blue Ironman Cycling Gloves hat. I'll slap a BT tattoo on my arm for good measure and look for anyone who's still hanging around at the "B" after I finally stroll across the finish line.

Good luck!

It was pretty bad this morning.  According to Doug, it's "just sand", though.

Sorry I missed everyone for the swim...I opted for some yoga instead.  I heard the ocean calmed down a lot and was "glassy" rollers by late morning.  The weather sure did clear up nice by around noon.  I was loving the mid-60s this am but it looks to be low 70s at the start tomorrow...not too bad.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

I really had a fun time today. I feel very strong with my higher mile runs. I am able to mentally push it more. My goal was 2:30 and I finished 2:29 something. I am very Happy about that. I ran with a running friend Maria who can really pace well.
It was great meeting the BT gang finally. I am glad you all enjoyed the beach. I can't wait to do my first lake triathlon. Today was a Beautiful Day. Congratulations to you all!!!!!!!!!!! Karen from VB

I took a wander down to the "B"  but I couldn't seem to find anyone...although I'm not sure who I was looking for.  By the time i got there it was probably 10:30 or 11am.  After i finished I spent some time back out on the course with my girlfriend while she finished the run.  Hope everyone had a great day!  I did fine, nothing to get excited about for me but it was a good effort that tells me where my conditioning is.  I'm definitely not back to where I was befoe Boston.
