drewb8 - 2012-08-17 8:45 AM I've got a Niner Jet9 and I love it, I can't imagine riding anything else now.  The main place I notice its 29er-ness is in the quick little accelerations that seem to take a little more effort, but once you get going you can just clobber everything so the key is to never slow down .  As far as handling, it actually feels fairly quick to me (though definitely not twitchy) though that could be because I came from a really slow 26" bike previously.  I looked at the R.I.P. but decided it was more bike than I need and I couldn't be happier with the Jet.

Love the Jet 9, but I ride the RIP 9.  Went to Fruita this year and had to rent a bike, uggghhhhh.  No comparison.  Find the bike that fits the trails, abiliity, desire and you.  That is the perfect fit for the dirt.

Slight setback in my 29er quest...

Frame arrived, but the seller packed it very poorly, and the head tube was damaged in shipment, can't mount a headset in its current state.

Good news is that the seller refunded my money, bad news is I still don't have a workable frame. I *should* be able to get it to a working state, but it'll never be perfect...

A friend had a frame which wouldn't alilgn the headset worth a damn. He had it faced by a machinist and it came out perfectly. Don't worry: Find youself a good shop and they can remill 2 parallel faces to set it in and you'll never know the difference.

Just took the Ibis out for a spin. That bike is unreal!

If you are riding a hard-tail, GET OFF IT NOW! The full-susp is so nice, and the bike performed flawlessly.

A couple things I have to get used to:

1. The wide bars - my DEAN has a much narrower bar and makes it through some pretty tight spaces.

2. Catching the peals on tall rocks when going through rock gardens. With full-susp, I no longer had to go around everything in the trail, so going through the gardens increases the chance of pedal scrape. But, I'll get used to it.

Can't wait to get out there again tomorrow morning!

The Mojo looks slick.

Got my frame fixed, metal shop charged me exactly ZERO DOLLARS to round out the damaged part of the HT. Score.

Found some Conti Race King tires on sale with free shipping. Score.

Now I gotta find time to build her up and ride. That might take extra innings...

cool, I could use a good metal shop number for my file. I tinker with modern and vintage mx stuff, need machine work now and then. Currently need a custom sized metal vent grille for an equipment room.

Keep the wide bars...you will learn to LOVE them! You will rail corners like you would not believe possible.

And get Lopes/McCormack book. I've gotten MUCH better following the pointers.
