Sunny
Total Time = 1h 00m 45s
Overall Rank = 13/233
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 1/15
Pre-race routine:

To bed early, up early
Bagel & Coffee (very little milk)
Get there early and setup
Mentally prepare at transition
Check for mount/dismount line
Check for swim entry/bike exit/entry/run exit
Listen to focus music
Event warmup:

Light stretch
Swim warmup (not too much)
Swim
  • 06m 39s
  • 350 meters
  • 01m 54s / 100 meters
Comments:

Went out fast as planned. Got ahead of the pack. Fell back after that. Somehow stayed ahead of the main washing machine. Good thing it was a slow wave.
What would you do differently?:

Continue training to maintain initial push out on such a short distance. Happy with position given 3rd triathlon, but this is definitely my weakest segment. I need to pull harder in the mid-swim area.
Transition 1
  • 01m 5s
What would you do differently?:

Maybe a little more hustle, but one of the better transitions so I'm happy.
Bike
  • 31m 7s
  • 12 miles
  • 23.14 mile/hr
Comments:

Killed it on the bike. Not the area to focus on for next time.
What would you do differently?:

Secure water bottle/don't knock it off when jumping on. As a result, no hydration for the duration of the race (barely touched run aid station water).
Transition 2
  • 00m 52s
Comments:

Good transition. Shoes took a tad too much time to put on.
Run
  • 21m
  • 3.1 miles
  • 06m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

Really happy with the run which was at my standalone 5k race pace. Previous triathlons had resulted in dropping of 3+ minutes.
What would you do differently?:

Push even harder - I had the energy!
Post race
Warm down:

None. Too happy.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swim and too new to triathlons.

Event comments:

Good job Playtri! This was a beautiful venue and a well organized race.
