Overcast
Total Time = 1h 30m 22s
Overall Rank = 17/92
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 4/12
Event warmup:

15-20 minute run, 5-10 minute swim
Used inhaler between the two
Swim
  • 20m 46s
  • 880 yards
  • 02m 22s / 100 yards
Comments:

The water was very cold and choppy.
Because of winds, the water was unusually choppy for this beach, making the swim slower than expected.
I went a little off-course and knocked into people a lot. Nonetheless, I actually felt OK throughout.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe push a little harder, I was holding back.
Be more diligent about sighting where I'm going.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

I got out of my suit quicker than expected. I used PAM, which helped.

The results printout did not break down transition times.
Bike
  • 46m 39s
  • 14.4 miles
  • 18.52 mile/hr
Comments:

I rode in my tri suit. It was pretty cold, but I felt fine. I was afraid I'd be self-conscious, but I wasn't too bad.
My speed on the flat is pretty good. My speed is improving on hills, but I'd still like to pick up. I kept reminding myself "This is a race. This is what you trained for. Get moving."
I came out about where I expected I would. I'm satifisfied, as it is stronger than my training pace, but I would certainly like to get faster.
What would you do differently?:

I think I rode it well for where I am currently. Perhaps I could have hit it harder in some spots. I certainly never felt completely spent.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

transition times weren't caculated on results form

I almost forgot my shirt, then wasted time turning around and fishing through my bag, then repinning my number from my suit to my shirt. It wasted time, but I was less self-concious with the shirt on, so I'm glad I had it.
What would you do differently?:

I'd have my shirt out waiting for me, perhaps with an extra number on it.
Run
  • 22m 57s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 39s  min/mile
Comments:

I was REALLY sluggish on the run. My muscles actually felt OK, but I had pain in my chest that stuck with me for most of the run.
What would you do differently?:

I would have taken the time to take a puff of my inhaler during the transition.
I'd do more bike/run brick work in training.

I would have gone ahead and tried to push through it a little more, sometimes sprinting a little helps me to breathe better.

Post race
Warm down:

None really.

Event comments:

The race was great.

My only disappointment was that I supposedly purchased 4 lunch vouchers for family at the registration, but they had run out of sandwiches before we could eat.
