Sunny
Total Time = 1h 19m 22s
Overall Rank = 624/1024
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 67/76
Pre-race routine:

Woke up and ate 2 bowls of oatmeal and a power bar.
Event warmup:

Swam for 5 minutes before the race.
Swim
  • 12m 22s
  • 750 meters
  • 01m 39s / 100 meters
Comments:

Took the swim slower than my usual pace in order to conserve energy for the bike and run.
What would you do differently?:

Breath a little better and not on every stroke.
Transition 1
  • 02m 42s
Comments:

The 40-44M was one of the last waves, so the transition area was very busy and chaotic.
What would you do differently?:

Run a little faster from the water to the transition area.
Bike
  • 37m 54s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 19.68 mile/hr
Comments:

I had my best bike time, but was passed frequently by the more seasoned(and faster) riders. Felt a little under-tech'd compared to the rest of the field since I was not decked out in full carbon and aero (wheels, helmet, water bottle, stem caps, etc..).
What would you do differently?:

Work on by cycling strength and endurance in order to keep up with the big boys.
Transition 2
  • 01m 42s
Comments:

Little slower than usual.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 24m 41s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

This was my personal best 5K in a triathlon, but was passed as if I was standing still by all the youngsters and real runners.
What would you do differently?:

Focus on running next year.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around drinking lots of water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Taking a vacation a week before the race.

Event comments:

Overall the race was great and the field was extremely talented. If you are going to get absolutely smoked in a race, its better to get smoked by the best in the nation.
The only problem was with security (or lack of). A number of racers had their wet suits stolen out of transition, my self included.
