Sorry cant help you with a ride but am pumped about the race. Who else in in? Doing this race with a buddy who did it last year. Riding on the AC expressway will be neat and the boardwalk run should be cool. Hopefully the head wind won't be to bad.

I'm doing the Olympic and am also excited to ride the expressway and run the boardwalk.  I've never been to AC before, so that itself should be fun.  And how cool do the finisher's medals look?!?!

I'm in! Excited to ride on AC expressway and run on the boardwalk past the casinos. I'm also happy the swim is in the back bay as opposed to ocean, he said it's extremely calm water. Amazing that the # of participants quadrupled in size from last year. Did you see his video about the course - cool stuff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WMzJZUqLp0   Have fun everyone! try not to lose to much $ at blackjack tables after

I am more stoked for this race than any other race this season.  I talked my parents into doing the relay.  My mom is doing the run, and my dad is doing the bike.  I am very jealous that he gets to bike on the AC expressway.  That's gotta be a great bike ride.

We have shirts made up for our team too with our team slogan/name on them...

I'm Dyin But I'm Tri-in

I am super excited too!! My hubby and dog are now coming anyway (sheraton is pet friendy!!) which will be great to have some support! I was originally going to be heading down by myself which is why I put up my original post.

This is also my first ever olympic distance - I have done two sprints this season. I am a little nervous about it but v. happy that the swim is in the back bay. I ahve also never been to Atlantic city so looking forward to checking it out.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!

That is so cool that you are doing the race as a relay with your parents. Such a special thing!  I doubt many folks would be able to say they raced with their parents. Enjoy, and best of luck to you!  I'll keep an eye out for your custom shirts.

This was my first Delmo Sports race.  Very well done.  We had a blast.  We did a relay.  I PRed my swim.  My dad PRed his bike.  My mom did expected on the run.  We placed 5th out of 11 relay teams, which we were ecstatic about.  I had some extended family come by to watch.  They had a great time.  Didn't stick around for awards or seafood festival, but the athletes food tent was very nice.  Great food selection.  We were a little disappointed that my mom's name didn't get called when she crossed the finish though.  Then we went to the boardwalk and walked around, went into some casinos.  Won $100 on a dollar slot.  Lost $50 total.

Yeah, definitely a great venue.  A few small kinks to work out in my opinion, but overall very nice!  I would definitely do it again.  I ended up placing in my age group which was very cool.  Didn't expect that.

I heard there was a car / bike incident?  Is that true?  I guess that's how rumors get started.

The Seafood festival was a great addition to the location, but they really need to make sure there is an ATM on site.  No ATM and they didn't take cards.  I didn't have any money on me or I would have certainly gotten something to eat.  There isn't an ATM within walking distance of the place.

We stayed at the Knights Inn across the street and the front desk told me they are putting one in because they get asked daily about where the closest one is and they aren't even sure.

Anyway, we really enjoyed it!

This was my second event and I really enjoyed it. I thought the staff and volunteers did a great job and found the event to be very well run and organized. I really enjoyed the size of the event, my first Tri was 98 people, so this was a lot more intimidating (1200), but it also got the adrenaline pumping that much more. A few things to improve on as is the case in anything. I didn't have any issues with directions and turnoffs as I am hearing about, I think that is more of making sure "you" are prepared and know the course inside and out and study before hand! Though a few extra signs leading up to the exit (int loop/sprint exit) would help alleviate confusion. Congratulations on placing in your division, I too was very surprised and got on the podium in the 45-49 division, I am still riding the "high"!

I loved the seafood festival that followed great way to wind down and enjoy the awards ceremony, and excellent food choices, sorry you didn't get to sample the various booths.

I will definitely attend next years event, maybe stay over Saturday night this time and enjoy AC. Stayed Friday night at the Borgata but didn't go near the casino or bars.

I"m going to do the Knights Inn too next year.  It's right across the street, no need to worry about parking.  Plus you get to sleep a little bit later on race day.

Hi All,

Great to read your experiences. I loved this race and thought the venue was great! It was my first tri of this distance and I placed 6th in my 40-45 yr age group - I was ecstatic, as I felt that I was pretty conservative having never done these distances before.

I did not turn off at the correct turn off so ended up losing some valuable time on the bike - i obviously need to pay more attention to the race briefing!! In all I would definitely do this race again. The finishers medal is great! We stayed at the sheraton because it is pet friendly and we had our dog with us. I liked it and the restaurant TUN's patio was pet friendly too so we were able to have a relaxing lunch after walking along the boardwalk and before heading back to NYC.

Congratulations everyone!

Kylie

There was an ATM machine inside the seafood festival right next to the beverages tent. I did not hear anything about a car/bike accident but almost got hit by two different cars who seemed to totally ignore the cones and closed road signs.
