Comments: I have a goal to run a 10k in under 50mins. I started out great and managed to pace the first 5km in 29:40. I made the turn feeling good however however the second 5k has quite a bit more uphill then the first 5. The race also finishes with the last 3/4km straight up a large hill. I was on pace to break 50 at the 9km mark as I was at 44:48. The final hill did me in however and I finished just outside my goal time. Overall though I was very happy with my pacing during the race. What would you do differently?: I could have gone out a little quicker to save my self a bit more time for the final km however Ive only been back running for the last 3 months and I didn't want to blow up and have a very uncomfortable final few km's. What limited your ability to perform faster: Fitness level and weight. Slowly starting to get both around where I want them. Event comments: I will definitely be doing this race again! Last updated: 2012-08-07 12:00 AM
