I don't know about the rest of you but I'm really looking forward to running in the cooler temps of fall.  I have started to try and identify some good events to mix into my training - let me know if there is any I shouldn't miss.  As it stands I will be doing the following:

  • Blues n' Brews (5k) 9/30
  • Tour de BBQ (Bike - not sure which distance) 10/6
  • Dusty Dash @ Squaw Creek (5K) 10/13 - kind of a long way for a race but it is a really scenic spot and might combine it with a camping trip to Indian Cave State Park - https://www.facebook.com/events/422751384437641/?ref=nf
  • KC 15K 11/10 - will likely do the 7K distance, depends on how the training is coming.

Also coming up in the fall are:

  > Plaza 10K on September 16

  > KC Marathon/Half Marathon/5K on October 20

  > Gobbler Grind Marathon/Half Marathon/5K on November 18

I'm thinking of doing the Gobbler Grind full, race starts at Corporate Woods in Overland Park so a very short drive for me.

Ditto.  Hey!  Maybe we could do it together?  ;-)

Yeah, who else can we suck into this one, hey Jon can do it, he's an ironman now, this is just a marathon, piece of cake.  This will be tough for me, my HIM is Sept. 23 so that give 8 weeks between.  I suppose I can get 3-4 long runs in there before tapering.

KC marathon (catered training run) then Northface 50k. Hopefully some trail races too. Probably the KCK 15k since its damn near within walking distance for me.

Paola was my last duathlon of the season. I must say I am hooked on them after starting this past spring.

I am training for the Pilgrim Pacer half-marathon on Nov 10th... my first one.

Probably  a few 5K's and maybe the 15K but most likely I need to start to build my base for Kansas 70.3 next year to get me ready for my training for 70.3 and my oly next year.

Triman, that's a fun race first 70.3 I did. Only advice I have is ride your bike lots. Then some more. Then some more. I thought I was in okay running shape but quickly found out how horrible my bike conditioning was at that race. I've seen zombies that moved faster than I was during that run.

I PR'd last fall at Gobbler Grind 5K, and I hadn't been doing a lot of speedwork.  I had run KC Marathon in late October (also a PR, so I was in pretty good shape), but then didn't do a ton before Gobbler Grind.  I actually didn't plan on running that hard, but I just had one of those good days.

Pretty darn flat.  Here's a link to my Garmin data.

I am doing the Prairie Fire Marathon in Wichita October 14 and NYC Marathon November 4.

I am doing the Race for Freedom 5k next Saturday.  I needed a race because I am tired of just training.
