Registered today and just heard this evening they aren't giving out age-group awards; just 1, 2, 3 overall male and female.  That is a load of crap!  Cheapskates!

no kidding? shortened the  course and pulling back on the AG awards? not cool.. last time i'll do this race.. not that i race only for the awards but that's not right.. was hoping to see if I could get the 30 seconds to push myself up a spot this year..

If this is actually true, then they will greatly hurt this race.  I love this race and actually changed my schedule to race in it and to hopefully try and place in my age group as a goal.  I noticed that last year there were no photos taken either.  I know this sounds vain, but I enjoy having action shots of myself for my scrapbook.  Oh well, I'm signed up and will race it hard despite their decision.  Looking forward to seeing everyone again!

I did this race last year as my first triathlon.  I wanted to do it again this year but it interferes with other training I'm doing.  Good luck to you guys racing.  I hope the weather holds out.

Awards:

This year the awards will be handled a bit differently. We will recognize the overall male and female winners. And everyone will receive a finishers medal. Also there are lots of door prizes.

If you have questions about the triathlon please email: [email protected]

I think we ought to email them and voice our displeasure.  I certainly am!

I agree with you Todd, i like the race.. but with the "everyone gets a finishers' medal" approach i believe that is why they are only recognizing OA male and female.. oh well. see you saturday!

The RD and I had a brief, somewhat tense, email conversation and she said that there will be certificates given out in each AG.  I didn't pursue it further but thanked her for her hard work and effort she puts into this race.  I certainly couldn't be an RD.

Let's hope that the certificates go 3 deep in each AG!

this was a funny thread. did anyone win a certificate? lol. At the ADPI dibacle triathlon this year i got a piece of paper that they had printed off of a printer and then cut to fit in a picture frame, as my award.
