Subject: RE: Bike kicked my asphalt I build roads for a living here in Las Vegas, where it's 90 plus at night. Asphalt takes several hours to cool completely, by completely, I mean whatever the ambient outdoor temperature is. Having walked on freshly paved asphalt, I know it is very soft, and you would definately have to work harder to pedal through it, but after a few days, It would be the best ride in the world. When the temp get real high here (105-115+ ), even cured asphalt gets soft, just take a look at the intersections in las vegas in the summer where cars have been sitting on the asphalt for extended periods of time. Divots everywhere, even just to walk on it it feels spongy. Dang, I could go on forever.
Get off your bike next time, and see if it is spongy under foot. If so, it's the weather outside, not the new asphalt. |
