Do your swim times vary when you swim in a pool of a different length. And if so, how much? Does a longer pool produce faster times?

I would think that people with a really good flip turn may benefit from the shorter pool, but I'm not sure.

What say you?

Thanks,
~B

Also, in the US, the vast majority of the short course pools are 25 YARDS, whereas the long course pools are 50 METERS, so the longer pool is more than just twice as long. That may or may not be the case, but it's probably the base assumption you should use unless you know otherwise. For a fast swimmer, the difference between long course meters and short course yards might be 6-7 seconds per 100.

Shorter pool=faster times

Except in my case where ANY pool=slower times.

interesting.
am i doomed to a slower than expected swim this weekend?
i was planning, originally, on going FASTER than normal because it seems like those darn walls always get in my way and slow me down. seriously, hitting something every 16-18 strokes is kinda obnoxious if you think about it.
i guess i will just pretend that the 50m pool will be faster for me.

hahaha!
Funny you should ask!
I forgot the Y switched the pool to 50 today (I usually swim when it is 25) and therefore it was sooo packed, I couldn't get in a swim!
Thus, 50 makes me much much slower
