Total Time = 1h 34m 48s
Overall Rank = 103/131
Age Group = 30-39
Age Group Rank = 21/21
Pre-race routine:

up at 4:30 filled bottles, ate PB, Honey and Banana sandwich, loaded up the truck and got on the road
Event warmup:

stretching, got in the water and got wet.
Swim
  • 09m 33s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

First open water group swim. Started near the back when the gun went off, and was stuck behind slower swimmers. Spent plenty of time in various lakes this summer, but never swam with other people around, and my freestyle was faster than I expected and I kept coming up on people and didn't know how, or want to overtake them.
What would you do differently?:

start in a better place, learn to pass.
Transition 1
  • 02m 42s
Comments:

Sat down stripped off the wetsuit, cleaned the feet, socks and shoes on without issue, helmet on, swig of water, swig of Gatorade, towards Bike out.
Bike
  • 46m 1s
  • 14.2 miles
  • 18.52 mile/hr
Comments:

Good bike leg, thanksgiving almost came early as a turkey ran across the road in front of a group of is at one point. Good humor. nice down hill about mile 11.
Transition 2
  • 00m 50s
Comments:

Racked the bike and grapped a shirt (sweat mop), helmet off and was on my way, after a shot of water and a shot of Gatorade..
Run
  • 35m 43s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 11m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

legs were heavy. Didn't get that worked out until about 2.5 miles in.. ha. Slow 5K time with a pace about 1.5 min/mile slower than my average pace. got really hot, 2 water stops helped out though,
What would you do differently?:

Push the last mile.
Post race
Warm down:

banana, bagel, powerade and stretch.. then found some breakfast.

Event comments:

First "full" sprint Tri. Loved it. I know I can train more, and do better, but I also pushed myself and was 10 minutes under my goal of 1:45:00 So, all in all, a much better outing than the mini in April.
