Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:20, shaved head and chin. Drove to the Grocery to get bananas, powerbar and a muscle milk. Ate and apple on the way. Drove to Des Moines, sat in traffic waiting to park for 25 minutes.hurried to set up transition, no time to warm up.

Walking from the car to transition about 1/2 a mile.

Practice transitions more during the off season.

First 2 miles were great! 7:44, 8:02, Heart rate was 171, so I didn't think I should run any faster! Passed the Iron Nun with 3.5 miles to go.
What would you do differently?:

Train a little more in the off season.
whole race was a PR for me, 19 minutes faster than last year!
