I am ridiculously excited about Apple's 12 Sep announcement...my beloved 3GS (the first Apple product I ever owned!) has been dying a slow slow death and I've been holding out for the next iPhone...

Rumors say it will be the iPhone 5!

Can't wait!

I heard something about a mini iPad. Maybe both on the same day? No they like the hype.

For the record, I think the Apple symbol is the mark of the beast.

Isn't a mini iPad the iPod touch? We've been there.

Do not question the great apple, they will make out, the zombies will buy it and it will be a huge success.

It's basically 1/2 the iPad or 2 touches across.

I'm content with an IPad and an iPhone. But they want to compete with the kindle fire and the other mid-size tablets.

DanielG, nice one.

I really do like my droid bionic, but I use a macbook air for my laptop and the cloud drive is an awesome feature that I want to take advantage of.  So, I'm mostly looking at the interoperability with my mac as the biggest selling point.

I do like the widgets on my droid so I'm curious if apple will come up with their version of that.

I'm curious as to why the Apple Corp chose the symbol of an apple with a bite out of it as their moniker. Theologically speaking, does this not harken back to the apple Eve allegedly took a bite out of and subsequently hosing us all out of blissful perfection?

Meh, I have a 3GS as well, but mine still works great. At best i'll wait until after the first of the year, when the bugs are worked out and the price comes down, but only if it offers significant improvement over what I have. So far the improved features I'm hearing don't provide sufficient motivation.

The big question about the "mini-iPad" is its price point. It will have to be below $200 to compete with the Fire, or provide significant features to justify the premium that Apple normally charges.

It's explained in the Steve Jobs' book, and it has nothing to do with that.

You of course should make your own comparisons but IMO the difference between the 3GS and the 4S is pretty significant (4 to 4S not so much).  The difference between the 4S and the 5 (if even 1/2 the rumors are true) is going to be just as significant.

I hear the new iPhone's camera will be a Double HD for zooming in AND still hold HD Quality. If this stands true, I am soooooo on board. It will be a good-bye 2 my $37.99 AT&A Plan.

I think they're neat and all, but I don't want to be part of the apple "I have to buy the newest thing the second it's released" crowd.  Not that there's anything wrong with that...

I don't upgrade every time a new one comes out...I skipped two releases (the 4 and the 4S).  I wouldn't be upgrading if my phone wasn't suffering.

But there is something to upgrading with each model.  If you sell your previous model as soon as the new ones come out you can make back a lot of the money you are spending on the new one.  But personally I find that changing computers/phones THAT often is more of a pain in the butt than it's worth!  I finally get my phone all set up and then I have to change everything!

I've had my current phone for over 3 years and that seems to be a decent lifespan for a phone....

You obviously haven't dropped yours in a mop bucket of dirty water or had to replace the glass. :D

I think the 4S was a HUGE jump from the 3GS...

Same boat here... just had to recently replace my battery because it was dying and acting so funky... I didn't hook my camera up, but I don't feel like undoing all those little connectors again... in short I'm waiting for iPhone 5 too!  My phone has been well used, but ready for retirement!
