I didn't think the cutoff times were very generous, considering the race doesn't start until 9 a.m.

I think 4:30 is a reasonable time for people to still be out there.

David tri's and I are heading down now and camping whereever there is space in the campground. Look for a bit white Class C motorhome with a USAT sticker in the back window. We'll probably be sitting out with our guitars tonight.

See y'all there!

I didn't think they were very good either.  I had a horrible run because I spent way too much on the bike.  I was scared to death I was going to DNF due to the cutoff time so I pushed much too hard.  I ended up walking a large portion of the run because I just didn't have any legs left.  I was the great pumpkin in the orange tri top that was nearly DFL lol.  I finished.  That was my goal as this was my first, and likely last, half.

I had hoped to finish under 8 hrs.  I suppose that wasn't a real lofty goal in hindsight, but I was kind of basing off of what I anticipated my pace to be and adding a little time for any snafus that may occur.  Finished in 6:46 so I was pretty ecstatic about that even with a near 3 hr run.

Put up a race report.  I figured I can't stand or walk my legs are so sore, I might as well sit and type.  I'm surprised they had the results up so quick.

Dude, I owe you an apology. We came out of transition together after the bike and at the first aid station, I accidentally went in front of you for the port-o-potty. I didn't know you were heading that way, but you were definitely in front of me heading into the aid station. When I came out and saw you standing there waiting, I felt pretty bad.

Hah, I thought that was you but wasn't sure.  You weren't holding me up, I was already on dead legs wondering how in the world I was going to finish the remaining 12 miles while getting a drink of water.   Turned out the answer was just as I figured, a lot of walking.

I think your husband yelled some encouraging words to me as I was finally making my way back into the park on my final leg.  I was pretty foggy at that point and just trying to keep moving forward.  There was a camper/rv leaving and I thought it was him yelling out the window as I was rounding the corner.

Speaking of finishing, there weren't a whole lot of people coming in behind me so they were out of medals by that point.  While I normally wouldn't care about a participation/finisher medal, being my first half IM and the culmination of about 60lbs of weight loss, it would be a decent memento to have.  They said they had the names of those who didn't receive one and would be mailing them out, but I'm not holding my breath.  Does anyone have any experience with this?

Yes.  I participated in an HFP event (Findlay/Flag City) in 2010 where they also ran out of awards.  I was actually 1st in my age group, too, so I kind-a wanted it .  It took a while (6 or 8 weeks, maybe?) and I really thought it wasn't gonna happen, but, sure enough I did eventually get it in the mail!

I hope you will get yours, too!

Did you know ... that swimming distance was messed up by the storm night before and it was SHORTER than it should be? I have heard that the race ppl have to re-install the buoys on Sunday morning. Nobody could tell what was the new distance, but definitely not 1.2 miles for half.

Anyway, everyone swim the same, and I got my personal best ))) And my time was like 10 min less than it probably should be
