It is not much food. I eat oatmeal with raisins, nuts, and yogurt with OJ for breakfast. A sandwich and two fruits for lunch. meat and two vegetables for supper (and then a little wine). These are in small portions. total calories per day on the order of 1500. No sugary drinks, no snacks. I hold pretty steady with that amount. If I run for 35-40 minutes per day also, then I lose about 3/4 lb per week with this routine. It is hard to get enough micro nutrients with the amount of food I eat for weight control. I need to increase the exercise just to be able to eat a balanced diet. TW i feel like (depending on your definition of small portions) there is no way that is 1500 calories, and i would be SO hungry eating only that in a day!! Considering I am injured and not doing anything to get my heart rate up on a routine basis. I eat 1200 calories a day and lost nor gained a lb since my surgery. I sometime waste my calories on very stupid and poor choices, but I very disciplined and know if I eat more I will blow up like the good year blimp. |

Do not leave until you have gone! lisac957 - 2012-09-26 10:32 AM Cheri whats up with the Captain? All is well, continue to date. Finally after a year of dating, we are starting to talk about the "bigger picture stuff". Seeing him 2 days a week and one weekend a month for travel. Going to Napa valley next weekend, bucket list item for me. Or even The French Laundry - although you will be incredibly lucky to get a table now for this weekend.
Going to French Laundry on Friday evening. |

Two sammiches for lunch and a healthy dinner plus snackage could easily be 1500 calories. It's amazing how many calories are in each thing. that said, I'd die if I only ate 1500 a day! |

Probably my favorite one there. Beautiful grounds/picnic area, grab some french food from their deli/marketplace, a bottle of red and kill a couple hours. Fantastic time. Ditto on this one! And if I remember correctly from the last time I was up there, it is one of the few that have free tasting! |

One of the perks of going to college in central coast CA! The local wineries (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, etc) were regular weekend trips. When we felt adventurous, we'd stay at the fraternity house at Sonoma St. Univ. and hit up Napa. Lots of forgotten good times were had!! |

Yes. Not sure the clavicle can handle a pack yet though. Also not sure my wife can handle me going backpacking with you. |

I am starving and it's still 40 minutes to lunch. Maybe I'll go early today. i did eat lunch 40 minutes early! and i'm still hongry. i hate eating healthy food, i never seem to eat enough of it. Healthy food is ... healthy. That's about all it is. it's also delicious! but gosh it takes a lot of food to fill up. Indeed it does. And it is delicious to a point. Veggies, eggs, meat and fruit. Only so many ways to make all that taste good over and over without being able to add anything to it. I am eating a salad for breakfast. I made the most awesome white fish(EVO/dill/lemon) and asparagus last night. I ate it on a salad for lunch/brunch today. A couple of hard boiled eggs for breakfast, a handful of almonds and now lunch is turkey slices with avocado and a bit of mustard wrapped in lettuce leaves. I'm going to be hungry again in about an hour. Ha! Sounds familiar. I thought you might recognize the above... thankfully Tony hates avocados, so I get to have them all and not share. Now to let the tummy settle before going for a run this afternoon... and then more eating! |

Yes. Not sure the clavicle can handle a pack yet though. Also not sure my wife can handle me going backpacking with you. Well I can carry the heavy stuff as long as you can manage a sleeping bag and some food. Don't know what to tell you about your wife. My hubby wouldn't mind but that's more because he gets nervous when I backpack alone.
