Total Time = 1h 46m 13s
Overall Rank = 420/541
Age Group = clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 26/33
Pre-race routine:

Woke up 5:15 am, took shower, drank some water. Had 1/2 a McDonalds hashbrown (the kids had to have somehting on the way to the race). Got to the race at 6:10Am. This time transition was organised by race number and I could not choose my spot. Did not have much room to set up transition area because next to me someone parked their mountain bike on a kick stand and not the rack.
Event warmup:

stretched out before the swim.
Swim
  • 12m 28s
  • 656 yards
  • 01m 54s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt much more calm on this swim, did not go out hard right from the bat and was able to get into a rhythm, breathed better, getting used to wetsuit, passed like 5-6 people on the second half of the swim. Swam untill I touched the bottom with my hands.
What would you do differently?:

nothing, this swim went as i planned it.
Transition 1
  • 02m 55s
Comments:

transition went much better then last time
What would you do differently?:

run faster wtih bike
Bike
  • 57m 57s
  • 15 miles
  • 15.53 mile/hr
Comments:

I went out much harder this race then the last, attacked almost every hill, but the winds were tough. Just to put things in perspective, there was a two mile segment, that one mile when I rode with the tailwind I averaged 26 mi/hr, but coming back the same way I averaged 13mi/hr.
I got passed by everybody and their grandma just like the last time, except for 4 people that I got a chance to pass (and it felt soo good, because they were not on huffy walmart bikes like during the Pigman) , but maybe only 3 count because one of those was a guy with a flat on the side of the road.
What would you do differently?:

need to bike more.
Transition 2
  • 01m 53s
Comments:

it was ok, drank some of my diluted powerade in transition
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 31m 2s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

it hurt for first 1.5 miles, then legs finally came back
What would you do differently?:

not be a big fat beotch, and be able to run faster.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around

What limited your ability to perform faster:

being a big fat beotch,
I havent seen the splits yet, so will have to think about it later.

Event comments:

I love being a triathlete, I guess I can say that now that I have done two. It feels good.

Age Group: 0/33
Overall: 236/541
Performance: Average
Suit: Neosport sleeveless.
Course: Triangle shaped swim in a lake, seemed to work better then a out and back design, because it did not seem like people "bunched" up as much. Underwater visibility was nill. Had to run up a hill to get back to transition area (it seems like its a repeating pattern in triathlons). They had a small baby pool set up at entrance to transition to wash off the feet, it was nice touch.

Great job man! The headwind did suck! I wanted to just pull over and wait for it to subside. Instead of you getting passed by everybody and their brother, I did. Fun race though huh? So sorry I couldn't meet fellow BTers. Next time! Once again, AWESOME JOB!

Great job Paul. Yes, that headwind after the turn took alot out of everyone, but the ride to the turnaround was fun! You'll have to head back this way in July for the Crossroads Triathlon, a sprint in DeWitt, just north of us here. Another well run event. Let me know if it works out and we'll be sure to meet.

 Keep up the great work!
