Total Time = 1h 20m 33s
Overall Rank = 105/383
Age Group = Clydesdales
Age Group Rank = 3/26
Pre-race routine:

Breakfast at 5 am (waffles and PB), red bull, then just rested until time to go. Left the house at 6 am, drove to the race, set up transition, and walked around some. UCan at 7:30 am.
Event warmup:

Once in my wetsuit, jogged a bit on the beach, then swam out to the first buoy and back to warm up.
Swim
  • 08m 15s
  • 586 yards
  • 01m 25s / 100 yards
Comments:

Water had some big surf and swells, which made it tough to navigate (couldn't really see the buoys), and it was a little harder to get out than normal.
Transition 1
  • 02m 15s
Comments:

Socks!!!
Bike
  • 43m 38s
  • 14.5 miles
  • 19.94 mile/hr
Comments:

Good ride, although at times I felt I was going pretty slow. I did manage to just get a 20 MPH average pace (according to my bike computer), which is a first.
Transition 2
  • 00m 43s
Comments:

Pretty normal T2 for me, but the new running shoes went on slower. The backs of the shoes are not as firm as my other shoes so I couldn't just jam my feet in and be okay. Had to dig in and straighten out the heels, which took some time. Also, the shoes felt like they weren't tight enough, but that could be because my feet were numb.
What would you do differently?:

work on a way to get my shoes on quicker.
Run
  • 25m 43s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

Really good run for me. This was my fastest ever 5K, and the first time under 26 minutes. Even so, I think I could have gone faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, ate some food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing.

Event comments:

Another great Wallis Sands race to close out the season. This is my third podium finish (three in a row), and my first podium on a sprint. Good way to close out the season.
