  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 53s / 100 yards
Comments:

I suck at swimming period. I know I do and I'm dedicating this winter to improve. I want to be at least 32-35 minutes at this distance and should be.
What would you do differently?:

Train more, hiring a coach for swim training this winter.
Transition 1
  • 03m 50s
Comments:

Run from lake to transition was about .25 miles. I am a wuss barefoot running so my time was awful.
Bike
  • 2h 29m
  • 56 miles
  • 22.55 mile/hr
Comments:

Really felt great on the ride. I knew I saved a lot for the run. About as near perfect I could ride for myself. Really stayed in my box.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Don't remember time over 2 mins
What would you do differently?:

Practice more.
Run
  • 2h 07m
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

My goal was 1:50 for the race. I was a little under until mile 10. Walked through water stop and ended up puking for several minutes. Legs felt great, but I was way over heated. I was very frustrated with myself cause other than that I felt good. No cramps, legs felt strong just severe puking. I was extremely disappointed with myself as was more prepared for the run then my last 5k reflect.
What would you do differently?:

I think my pace was right on just had GI issues. I don't want to blame nutrition or hydrated so much as I felt like I had lots in the tank and no cramping. I'm pretty sure I just wussed out.
Post race
Warm down:

Puke for 15 minutes and poor water on my head until I felt normal again.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My ability to perform better was lack of time in the pool, lack of determination to finish strong on the run, and a temp over 90 degrees on the run. My lack of pool time showed huge. I feel my other training was spot on and the run time doesn't reflect the time I put in at all. Really need to do a lot more block training.

Event comments:

I have done 2 other WTC races and they were no where near as well ran as this. Staff were all knowledgable and friendly. Everything very organized. Drought made for crappy swim condition and long T1 time. Bike conditions were average, but about as good as the crapy chipseal in Austin. I will do this race again for sure. Have to go back next year with a better swim and hopefully hang in for a better run. My goal is 4:50. I know there is 8-10 mins on the swim to have, 3-4 mins in transition, and 20mins on the run in me. Just need more practice and work. Also need to stay mentally tough towards end of run. I caved bad.
