I'm eating everything in sight, morning snack of protein shake, lunch of sandwiches, veggies, couple pieces of fruit, cup of yoghurt. Just enough to get through lunch. then power bar or something similar for afternoon snack. Dinner well anything goes, as healthy as possible.

I'm sick of protein shakes but it's one of the only ways I know to get through the day. I'm also wanting something different for afternoon or evening snacks. Anyone have anything they'd like to share?

Me too.  I plow though food in season.  My wife affectionately (I think) refers to me as her garbage disposal.

About once a month i give myself one day to eat wahtever i want. after a long brick i went to mcdonalds and got a bacon cheese angus burger, large fry, 10 piece chicken mcnugget, large dr pepper, then came home and ate 2 bowls of cereal and some fruit snacks. it was the first time i felt full in a long time! Once in a long while you gotta feed the need.

How about a double cheeseburger, fries and sweet tea from Mac's?

Ha ha, just this morning I impressed the server at the greasy spoon with how much of their giant breakfast (four eggs, pound of potatoes, 10 slices of bacon) I put away. (I'm a skinny woman.)

You're an endurance athlete. You need fuel. EAT. If you need something to fill you up, try nuts or nut butter.

I know, when I go out to eat with friends, they're complaining that a 2/3 lb burger is so big they don't have room for popcorn at the movie. I eat mine, the fries, the veggies and ask him if he's gonna eat that. It's embarassing. So anyone do homemade bars or any other kind of snacks. I do eat nuts and nut butter on an apple or banana for snacks sometimes.

Yep sure is fun isn't it?  I just ate dinner an hour ago and that aching feeling in my stomach is back already.  I've been trying to make good choices during the night time.  My desire is to go salty carbs so I have to keep them out of the house.  Last night it got the best of me and I downed a bag of popcorn, the movie theater kind followed by a bag of chips.  Tonight I'm gonna see if I can locate some cottage cheese.

The boy and I hit up Five Guys Burgers and Fries this evening after I picked him up from swim club and I had ran and swam as well......Each had a big ole double cheese burger....prolly near 1/2 lb, and a giant order of double fried french fries in peanut oil.

mmmmm......mmmmm.....mmmmm!!!!!

I feel good!!!Cool

If you are hungry.....eat!!.....  Mostly slow (healthy),  sometimes fast (so good you KNOW it's bad for you).

The trick is to not eat if your really not hungry, that's where you get in trouble.

Let's face it....the best part of doing what we do is that you can eat what most people want to eat, but are afraid of because it just keeps adding to their belt line.

i find a large sweet potato mid afternoon can curb a lot of my appetite and help me refuel from whatever morning workout i had in time for my afternoon one.

that being said i have been eating 4-5 meals a day for the last 2 months, small ones though.

I have a sandwich that I eat every night as my snack right before bed so that I am not so famished when I wake up.  Slather some peanut butter on some bread, add a layer of raisins, drizzle some honey over the raisins, sprinkle some cinnamon over all of that, then add a sliced banana to top it all off.  It is like pure candy, but all of it is still good for you!

that sounds good, the greek yoghurt kick I've been on is about to break me. the thing that sucks is my SO is still losing some baby weight so there is NOTHING in the house with any calories. I'm about ready to start sneaking out at night to get something...

Your kid should eat more during the day at school.

The worst part for me is I've toned down my training for the past two weeks because I picked up a job, flippant schedule, etc. and my appetite has stayed the same. Ever gain 10 pounds in two weeks? This guy has. And I can't control it, either. If I try and control what I eat I lose it at like 6pm. If I don't... well, I don't.

Need to start ramping up the distances on Monday since my schedule is getting more stable -.-

Totally know this feeling.  My poor kids don't want me around their food for fear I will swipe their fries, etc.

Amazed, though , when last week I didn't exercise much for 3 or 4 days and my eating dropped drastically! Really made be realize that for some of us it could be easier to lose weight when NOT training.

I put peanut butter or nutella with all my snacks. Apple? I'll take a giant scoop of nutella with every bite. Sandwich? I'll have an extra piece of bread with pb. Before workout? Nothing wrong with a large spoon of peanut butter as I walk to my bike. I also eat a lot of bacon Don't you train so you can eat non stop???

Start putting peanut butter or almond butter on everything (within reason). I put it on my apples and bananas I eat daily. Seems to help curb the hunger and the brands I buy have plenty of healthy fats and are all-natural. None of that JIF crap.

So does anyone really keep track of calories, protein, carbs, etc. or just keep eating till full? I'm trying to make a list of snacks to make so I can grab something quick. I can only eat so much peanut butter... so far I'm going to do homemade Cliff type bars, maybe with some whey protein, roast some sweet potatoes for a quick microwave, and make some waffles for the freezer (really good with all kinds of things on them). Anyone else have another favorite?

I'd rather keep track of my miles and yards than calories. I do it based on feel and energy levels, as well as what I see in the mirror and such. Some days you need more, some days you need less.

I tend to eat to fullness, but have been learning to watch the composition of what I'm eating. Not just "healthy", but what kind of healthy.

At one point, I just got an idea of about what I should be getting for something like protein. Then made sure to get in several solid protein sources throughout the day and call it good. I'll learn the numbers in the first place, then mentally have a "low, medium, high" for things as that's good enough for me. I'm learning to do that with a few other things as well.

For carbs, I didn't really figure out an amount to get to, but just watch the sources depending on my activity level. I've been taking it rather easy after my last race, so haven't been having nearly as much of this as before. I've been working on filling up more with other things, as it seems to be rather easy to get enough carbs.

ETA: I've gotten away with eating to fullness quite a bit because my expenditure is very high. I've regularly had one of if not the highest volume in the monthly totals, and it's definitely not noodling along.

Now that I'm bumping up the training to 15+ hours, I'm there too.  That seems to be my tipping point.  I'm okay up to about 15 hours and then I'm Always Hungry.  Cantelope, lots of protein (salmon and chicken), almonds in soy sauce, popcorn, carrot sticks (and hummus if we could get/make it).  I also do dinner for lunch (just had green beans, smashed potatoes and a small piece of meatloaf) and salad for dinner, but last night I had a huge plate of potatoes, carrots and celery followed by a banana and Nutella.
