Subject: Looking for an end of July 50k

Hi everyone!

So my running has gotten me to the point where I am planning my first Marathon for June 2nd, 2013. I am *hoping* all will go well with it and the training leading up to it. However I am also wanting to look forward to the last weekend in July which will be my 30th birthday (Shh don't tell anyone!) so to celebrate for myself I want to run a 50k. I figure a few weeks of recovery from the marathon and then maintaining my marathon base and adding in some trail runs will get me right there - and really, if I am careful, a 50k is *only* a few miles longer than a marathon so I should be allright.

So my plight? I have not seen a good race calendar for 2013 yet for ultras to pick one. Ideally I want to be close to home in the pacific northwest but if my only option is a little travel I would consider it. Is anyone out there familiar with any races that usually occur around that weekend???

Check the calendars for something close to you, at that time of the year it almost seems like there is one every weekend or so, especially if you include southern BC.

For a late July run I would recommend the SOB 50 in Ashland; I ran it this year and it was great.
