Now Im an official 'tri' girl can't wait to do my 2nd one next August! This board is full of so many active people thought you can help me out:

Im looking for a great hiking trip to go w/ my best friend for the weekend (getaway in November w/o husbands, kids etc...) but warmer would be best...

Ive been to Phoenix, and Sedona...Are there other places in AZ? Anywhere in New Mexico? Southern California? Ive been to Zion but thats in in Utah-although not sure how warm it will be....

Just want the most beautiful scenery possible....? need to veg. any suggestions?

Are you referring to 2 - 3 hikes that last a day or more than one hike that lasts 2 - 3 days?

There are a lot of nice day-long hikes in Tucson and the surrounding areas (Ventana, Sabino Canyon, Saguaro Monument East and West, and Picacho Peak to name a few). There are probably some good longer ones available as well, but it's nothing that I've looked into personally.

I've gone several times into the Chiricahua Mountains in Southeastern AZ.  Their are some free campsites and then you can back pack for days if you want.

I usually camp at Sycamore on Turkey Creek and hike from there.  Another place in those mountains is Camp Rucker.

Temps will still be mild and elevation is 9000+ feet.

And the views....awesome.

Oh and the workout is pretty good too.

Edit:  There might be a hotel nearby in the area...not sure.  Again, I do a 'base camp' and hike for a couple days from there.  It's quite remote and you won't see anyone in the mountains.  Very peaceful.

If you're going to Arizona, I can think of no better day hike than Bright Angel Trial to Plateau Point, to the inner gorge of the Grand Canyon. 12 miles round trip. 3000 feet elevation change. The views will take your breath away. Stay in one of the lodges on the South Rim. Should be cheap in November.

Grand Canyon may have snow at the top in November.  Check weather reports, etc. before you book.  Elevation of the south rim is 6500 feet, so think Colorado type weather.

I'd do like others and look around Phoenix/Tucson area.  Even Sedona may be doable if you haven't had your fill.

Oh, and look into Arches Park in Utah if weather would cooperate there.
