Mnt. Bike Shorts over Tri Shorts??

Bike Shorts over Tri Shorts??I'm about to break a cardinal rule so I want to break it with as much advice as I can...Tomorrow, regardless of the answers I get in here, I'll be doing something for the first time on race day. I have an off-road tri tomorrow and I was thinking about putting my Mnt. biking shorts over my tri shorts out of the water and then pulling them off for the run. I have no idea why I haven't been mountain biking in my tri shorts, but as I'm looking at them now I'm not sure if that padding is going to be sufficient. I've done 4+ hour rides in them, but never on a rough terrain. (obviously I've never worn my mnt. biking shorts over wet tri shorts before either.) Do I risk having major chaffing issues if I do that? I only plan on being on my bike for an 1:15 at the most...I did ride around the block in my tri shorts, but tomorrow's ride is going to be a lot bumpier. |

My normal ride gear on my mtn bike ranges from regular bike shorts, mtn bike shorts and just regular gym shorts. You shouldn't even notice the lack of padding during the race. Have fun, it will be a blast. |
