Pinehurst, North Carolina
United States
Set Up Events
70F / 21C
Sunny
Total Time = 2h 30m 30s
Overall Rank = 21/345
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 4/30
Event warmup:

Not typical....I forgot my ID and had to run to my car and back before race check in.
Swam a few hundred yards to warmup, plus the water was warmer than the air temperature!
Swim
  • 24m 35s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 38s / 100 meters
Transition 1
  • 02m 24s
Comments:

Had trouble with my socks, which slowed me down, otherwise a good transition.
Bike
  • 1h 23m 20s
  • 30 miles
  • 21.60 mile/hr
Comments:

It's a hilly course. I did we'll, but after a half IM last weekend and my first soccer game in 18 months on Tuesday, my legs where a little tired
Transition 2
  • 00m 38s
Run
  • 39m 36s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 06m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

Had the 5th fastest run in the race.
Ran down the three people that passed me in the bike (2 of which were in my AG).
Met my goal of a sub-40min 10k
Post race
Warm down:

Stood in the lake for a few minutes to cool down the legs. 74deg water works almost as we'll as an ice bath.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Probably my other recent activities: half ironman on 9/30, soccer on 10/2, other than that my race execution went exactly as planned.

Event comments:

Race was delayed 10 minutes to let some of the fog burn off the lake...a good decision.
This is the second time I've run this race: it's well run, in a beautiful location, and is solid/challenging late season race

Very impressive race, man! Fast 10k! Was hoping to meet same goal, but the bike course really took it out of me.

You had a very good time overall. I'm surprised that you didn't podium with a 2:30!

Fast field out there!
