REVOLUTION3 Triathlon

Overcast
Total Time = 2h 52m 40s
Overall Rank = 70/183
Age Group = 30-34 M
Age Group Rank = 9/13
Pre-race routine:

I got up at 4:40, left the house by 5:15, or so. I got to T2 and set it up, met Nate and his girlfriend, and we headed over to T1 and the swim start. I got T1 set up, then had a Stinger Waffle. Nate and I ran for about 10 minutes or so, then we had a practice swim a little while before the start. I took a Gu just before the practice swim.
Event warmup:

10 minute jog and short swim
Swim
  • 35m 13s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 21s / 100 meters
Comments:

It was an ok swim; from what I've heard people saying, it was longer than posted. I'll wait and see what others say. I definitely like I went faster than 2:20/100m, but I'm not terribly disappointed.
What would you do differently?:

I clearly just need to work on technique and strength, but I'm pretty happy overall.
Transition 1
  • 01m 21s
Comments:

I lost my goggles running into the transition area, and just left then. I could've stopped and gone back, but I'd rather just buy new goggles. It was a little hectic packing all my things up and getting them into the T1 bag, but not terrible.
What would you do differently?:

not drop my goggles
Bike
  • 1h 21m 49s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.22 mile/hr
Comments:

Man, those hills were tough. They never really let up; you never had a chance to rest. Every time you got up a hill and your legs recovered, you'd be going down another and then back up. A good bike, and definitely indicative of what I can do, I'll just like to get faster.
What would you do differently?:

Train more, train harder
Transition 2
  • 02m 45s
Comments:

I could've gone faster, I think my legs were just a little fried. Overall, pretty average.
What would you do differently?:

Just do everything faster.
Run
  • 51m 32s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 18s  min/mile
Comments:

Man, my legs were pretty fried after the bike. For the first mile, my quads were just blocks of wood. After a couple miles, they came back to life, and then after 4 I felt mostly normal, just tired.
What would you do differently?:

Not much
Post race
Warm down:

I went straight from the finish line to the bbq sandwich line; I was craving something not sugary. That sandwich was good!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My bike speed

Event comments:

This was a good race; the course isn't easy, but that's not really why people do this. I definitely had a good time!

Great race!

From what I've read - swim course was long due to having to shift it a bit from low water levels.
