Comments: A tough day due to wind. I had hoped to average 21 on the day. I was pretty close. I've built some cycling speed from last year and will continue to build more this winter. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. I felt I stayed within myself on the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Sunglass lenses fell off so I left them. What would you do differently?: Just need to work on being quicker. Run
Comments: This was a well below average run for me. I let the swim cancellation, race day weather, and the fact that the first four miles were trails get me off focus. I had a difficult time pacing on the trails and ultimately came out to fast for the terrain and conditions. It got humid quickly which doesn't help my run. I finished the run but I quit the mental battle early. I used new gels and used salt tabs which I don't normally and got heartburn-- this didn't help either. What would you do differently?: Nothing new on race day! Duh! More humidity training and more focus on mental toughness. Post race
Warm down: Walking around the expo and Main Beach. Message was awesome! It hurt like heck but she worked the kinks out. Pizza and then off to lunch. What limited your ability to perform faster: My attitude and focus. Event comments: It was a well organized race and DRC does a good job. For a HIM, I had hoped for more spectators but this is a small venue. DRC handled the weather and other issues well and made the right calls whether we liked them or not. I may do this race again one day but next year it will be too close to IMFL. Last updated: 2012-10-09 12:00 AM

Didn't sleep well the night before as usual. Up at 5:15 since I knew the swim was cancelled and the race was going to start late.
None. Walked around a bit and dodged rain drops.
