I am having some problems with sweat getting in my eyes and gooping up my contacts. Any suggestions? Lasix is NOT an option.

Thanks for the help.

Well I don't wear contacts but I was having issues with sweat getting in my eyes and burning.  I have for the last year or so started wearing a Hat when I run which has helped tremedously.  FOr the bike I weare a head cover on hot days under my helmet.

This is going to sound weird, but it works. I do it all the time.

Bodyglide on your brow. Just run it across your forehead from eyebrow to eyebrow. It acts as a barrier and redirects the sweat down the sides of your face. It's effective on it's own but I usually wear a hat too.

Lasix is a horrible option for getting rid of sweat.

Try closing your eyes.

Barring that, a hat. But even then, I still get sweat in there. Wipe alot. That's what I end up doing.

Oooh- good tip Marmadaddy- will try it this weekend on my long bike ride.

I bought a thin sweatband from my LBS for about 8 bucks that fits under my helmet. Works very well. I find, however, that even sweatproof sunscreen still runs into your eyes, so I would avoid putting it above your eyebrows.

Get a hat/visor. The brand Headsweats has a comfy cushion-y thing across the forehead that wicks mositure off the head and into the visor. Works great.

I've heard those Halo headbands work really good.  I usually wear a runing hat.

Click on the IRONMAN section up top. This stuff is great. I have a visor and wore it in a race this weekend. No problems at all. Light too.

I meant the "laser" eye surgery, not furosemide, the diuretic. I just used some today in a horse at work, got a little confused. Thanks for the tips.

In addition to the headband or hat, you can also get wristbands that help for wiping your brow. I don't have any yet but my hat has been getting saturated sometimes lately and that looks like my next step. I might try that bodyglide idea too.

Similar to the bodyglide idea, I think tupuppy mentioned to me once to try lip stuff like chapstick on the eyebrows.  Same concept, redirect the sweat.  I wear a wicking hat that helps a lot.  I'm easy to amaze (insert cheap shot here), but it always surprises me to watch the sweat drip off the bill of the hat intead of running down my face.

They are now using botox to curb underarm sweating -- you should have put in your scalp. Shave your head and have they put it in shapes and words. That would be cool.

This is going to sound weird, but it works. I do it all the time.

Bodyglide on your brow. Just run it across your forehead from eyebrow to eyebrow. It acts as a barrier and redirects the sweat down the sides of your face. It's effective on it's own but I usually wear a hat too.

I'll be trying this out tonight on my brick.

You might want to consider a separate BodyGlide stick for this purpose.  I'd definitely not get my BodyGlide anywhere near my face/eyes after applying to... ummm... other areas that tend to chafe.  Foot in mouth

Bandana doo rag has worked wonders for me.

It fits nice underneath the helment and I can shove some ice cubes into it while I'm running.

Your neck? ankles? Shoulders? For "other" places I use Butt'r.

So you won't do it with BodyGlide, but you have no problem doing it with soap or a washcloth, right? God help you if you have roommates, too.

I second (third? fourth?) the bodyglide idea, but the one time I tried it I used for a dreadmill run before a swim. It got on my swimcap when I put it on, and that thing wouldn't stay on for nothin' for that swim.

I'm not allowed to wear a headband while running (stupid Army uniform regulations) so I put chapstick on my forehead to channel the sweat away from my eyes.  It works wonders!
