Pre-race routine:

got up at 4:30 and made some coffee and ate a little bit. Then drove to race (about an hour)
Event warmup:

nothin really
Swim
  • 34m 31s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

the swim was good for me. The water was just right at first but as I approached the finish I started to warm up glad it was not any further or the suit would have been to hot.
What would you do differently?:

swim straight!! For some reason I was realy swimming strong to the right. A problem I normaly don't have.
Transition 1
  • 02m 47s
Comments:

everything went pretty smooth the transition was a good way from water so I feel pretty good about the time
What would you do differently?:

practice more putting on helment at the same time as I take off suit.
Bike
  • 2h 58m 54s
  • 56.3 miles
  • 18.88 mile/hr
Comments:

the course was smooth for the most part. It had some chip seal but not to bad. There where two big hills one at about 29 miles and one at about 40. The rest of the course was rolling nothing real big. I think it was about 3k gain over all. The wind was in our face on the way out and at our back on the way in that made it real nice.
What would you do differently?:

not much it was a good ride for me. I went out easy (most of the time I felt like it was to easy)and at 35 mile I started to pick it up a bit. This worked out real good for me.
Transition 2
  • 00m 49s
Comments:

went real smooth
Run
  • 2h 04m 22s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt good off the bike. The hardest part was holding off and not going our to fast. I was a little slower then I wanted to be out but that was a good thing because the last 2 miles where tough. I had a guy in my age group pushing me the last 3 or so miles. I did not know at the time but we where fighting for 2nd place. The last mile I was able to give one last push and pull out the second place finish(my best finish).
Post race
Warm down:

walked around and cooled off.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I performed relly pretty well. I would have to train harder to do better.

Event comments:

This being the first event I think it went really well.
