I'm in and looking forward to it.  2013 is going to be a fun year.  I'm doing Bone Island full in Key West in January then heading up North to Whistler.  Hopefully I can keep my body from falling apart trying to do 2 fulls in 1 year but 7 months between them shouldn't be an issue.

Hey guys I am also looking forward to this race it should be a lot of fun. Is it just me or can we not see the race route just yet? Just trying to figure out hotels and things like that. I know its early but with a town like that it might better to find a place sooner than later.

I saw the course maps last week but now I can't find them.  I thought they were here.

http://beta.ironman.com/triathlon/events/ironman/canada/course.aspx#axzz2ALVjB8mS

If you look at google maps of Whistler.  Swim course is 2 laps from Rainbow park on the north side of Alta Lake.  Bike route started south on Sea to Sky highway before turning around and heading back north through Whistler towards Pemberton.  I don't remember exactly where the turnaround points were.

T2 is the big parking lot on the southeast corner of Lorimer and Blackcomb.  Run course went around Lost Lake and then north with the turn around somewhere on the north side of Green Lake.  If I remember correctly, it was a 2 lap run.

That is all I can remember off the top of my head.  hope that helps.

Thanks for the information. I knew I had seen the maps on there but they seem to be gone. Your info is helpful though. Thanks a lot.

Just booked our condo so we are good to go.  If you haven't booked a place yet I would consider finding something quickly before rates start going up.  Several condo owners we contacted asked if something was going on since they were getting more inquires than normal.

+1 on this... got mine for $110/night with a kitchen. Book now folks or you will pay. No minimums either so you can book 3-5 nights no problem and spend some time elsewhere in the region if you want too as well.

We are going to kick around Vancouver early in the week then stay in Whistler for 5 nights then probably head back to Vancouver and/or Seattle.  If anyone in that region has some good ideas for things to do post race let me know since we have a week post race to play.

I got lucky on hotel location looks like my hotel will be real close to T2 and finish. my family will be able to go right out front and see me pass by on the bike. This will be an awesome IM. Now just need to begin the training plan to include IMCDA yikes!! This could be a good fun year.

Anybody have info on the bike course for IMC Whistler?

After IMFL training, I can't wait to get back in the hills. Hopefully, the elevation will eliminate the pace lines too.

For those who know the area. ON the bike how are the down hills. Are they strait? Have semi easy turns in them? Sharp turns ect? Just seeing what I have in store for me. I also wonder how they will set up the bike. IMCDA is a little crazy in the bike leg on the highway. You ride up hill against traffic then down hill on the shoulder. Do you think this ride will be about the same? Thanks for the info.

I'm in too. I'll be doing it for fun as I'll be racing Roth 6 weeks before. There are a few of us coming from France to race it.

Anyone have contacts or ideas for accomodation? Car rental?

many thanks

Lynn

We used www.vrbo.com for a condo right next to the finish line. From what I understand you don't really need a car to get around Whistler.  We are going to rent a car in Vancouver or Seattle (not sure what airport we will fly into yet) so I can drive the bike course and explore the area post race.
