2013 Triathlons

In my neck of the woods registrations tends to open up early in the new year.  Could be different for your area. 

However, it shouldn't stop you from planning your races - they tend to fall on the same weekend each year (of course some don't) - you can use the calendar here on BT for pretty reliable info as well as some website will usually have at least last year's dates on them.

Depends on the race, but most are announced between November and February, particularly smaller and shorter races.

Larger races tend to be announced earlier, sometimes up to a year in advance. It also depends on how established the race is. An event in it's first year or two is still working out relationships with the communities and organizations involved which makes it harder to finalize a date. Long established races and the communities they're in tend to have these details down so they can work out a date with little to no problems.

What is "your area"?

I know for the area where I live, not a lot has turned up yet. 

Outer Banks Sporting Events has posted the date of the 2013 running of the Outer Banks Tri.  I'm planning to do the Oly again.  Gotta see if I can beat the 3:51:00 (rounding up) I did this year.

Aside from that, the only other date I have found is for Rev3 Williamsburg, which is only doing a HIM and an Oly.

Well, yeah, I said "my area", but it's seems like most haven't put up the official calendar yet.

While races tend to be the around the same time, some float a week in either direction and one 5K we've run a few times moved a month earlier this year, which helped as it was during my daughter's HS XC season at the previous date.  So, they do move at times.

I ended up looking at the 2012 calendar to at least get a feel for when some of them are.
