I'm 7:10 also.  Gotta remember it's not USAT age brackets.  Heh.

7:14 too. I just did a 2 hour ride yesterday, big gears only and all seated hill climbs, especially Shawnee rd. and Red Bud Tr, if anybody is familiar with those. This course will be rolling but not as violently hilly as these roads. I am hoping to smoke on the ride, while not tanking on the run, as was my norm last year.

This will be a fun race, but if this weather continues, there will be people falling out all over the place! Good luck all!

Don't forget your colostomy bag!

OK...

We've got start times figured out, what time do you hope/expect to cross the finish line? This should give everyone some time windows where to expect other BT'ers on the course.

Me, 1:22 (6 hours) is my goal.

Yeah, 6 hours is about what I'm shooting for too - which'd put me in front of a beer at 1:14.

As of two weeks ago I was faster than that, but now I don't think I am.  I might be able to shave 20 minutes off that in a perfect race...but I'm more likely to be sliding the other way...

6 hours also, 1:15 is looking like a good time for a beer.

Is the participant guide somewhere on the website? Also, do you know what wave the relays are in?

Rennick,

I'm fairly positive that the relays are in the last wave leaving at 7:30.  Sorry!  But you have the comfort of knowing that I'm only leaving 4 minutes before you.  Darn these races that believe that girls shoud go last.

Participant guide is on steelheadtriathlon.com. Over to the right hand side of the screen in the green section - '2006 Athlete Guide'.  My favorite part was the advice to cut down your fingernails and toenails so that you don't injure other triathletes in the water.  Great advice, but probably not what I'm really going to worried about the night before.

I'm looking forward to the race.  My first time in Michigan!  I hope that everyone has the best race ever.

I think my finishing time will have a fair amount to do with the weather.  In perfect conditions, I hope to come in close to or soon after 5:30 which would put me in at 12:40.  Weather and reality may make 6 hours much more reasonable which would put me in at 1:10.  If it hits 1:30 or 2:00 and I'm still not there, send help!!!

Any interest on getting together Friday evening? I haven't been in the area for a few years, but an additional 1800 people (in the tri) plus organizers and supporters (like Andy ) might tax the local establishments.

I'll propose 7 PM (EDT, for those from Chicago). Someone local want to propose a location?

St. Joe will be pretty packed. Here are a couple of options. There is a town named Stevensville that basically borders St. Joe. There is a road that intersects with Red Arrow Highway named Glenlord Rd. If one were to go East on Glenlord, over some RR Tracks, there is a Joint on the right named Santaniellos. Awesome pizza and carb loading. My dad lives on the lake on St. Joe, so I will be staying there for the night before the race. If anybody is interested in meeting up, carb loading or needs any info, I can be of service. I live in the area and know the place very well.

I know all sorts of great eating places, and attractions. If anybody wants to meet, PM me and I will reply with my cell number.

Good motivation.  I am unsure of my schedule because I will have my whole family in tow.  Anyone else traveling with a support crew that includes the tikes?

As if I don't have enough to worry about now it looks like I may need to start worrying about the weather. Forecast is starting to look like the possibility of rain. Any thoughts from the more experienced what the options are for the different weather scenarios? Swim in the rain is not too bad (if they let us) and we have all ran in the rain a number of times, but biking in the rain is another issue.

Looking at the advance weather (we're close enough ), they're predicting

Low 62
High 76
Mostly cloudy
10% chance of rain
9 mph winds NNW

This sounds pretty good to me...

I'm not sure if it is good or bad that the weather report is that good this far out.  Those conditions are ideal, let's hope it stays.

HI everyone,

I live in St. Joseph, MI. I just joined this site. I quit smoking on March 14th and just found my self biking, swimming, and running and thought, "hey, why not train for a triathalon"? Wouldn't that be cool to go from smoker to triathlete! I'm far from an Ironman but it's a start.

Anyway, I would like to welcome you all to the area. It's very nice here in the summer. The tempatures are supposed to drop in to the high 70's low 80's next week.

My suggestion for a place to meet would be the Mansion Grill or Clementines.

Also, if any racers or people coming to the area looking for a host your welcome leave me your email, or email me at [email protected]. It's not much, but it's close to the beach, and the best part it's free.

PB - AWESOME offer, thanks!!!  I think I'm all set for digs, though.  And welcome to BT, and congratulations on your recent launch of the cancer sticks.  It's gonna be fun to watch your progress training and racing...

Yeah,  it's here.  Two real training days left, got my last long-ish ride in today, so now I'm one solid swim and one solid run away from tapering.  I'm completely jacked up about the weather report, too...I rode today mid-day, and went through 6 bottles in 48 miles.  Ummm...it was smokin', and it might be better if it were a little cooler - like the forecast says!

I'm geeked, but calm.  Not much I can do now, other than not hurt myself or blow my diet & nutrition before Saturday.
