Age Group Rank = 1/18
Pre-race routine:

Same ol same ol.
Event warmup:

Quick jog.
Swim
  • 02m 30s
  • 164 yards
  • 01m 31s / 100 yards
What would you do differently?:

Reverse sprint, so the 3 lap swim was last. Jumped in, started swimming, passed one guy, got out, ran to the finish.
Transition 1
  • 01m
Bike
  • 32m
  • 12 miles
  • 22.50 mile/hr
Comments:

4 loop course with a decent hill on each loop. Good downhill segments though. Dropped my chain starting the last loop...cost me 20 seconds probably.
Transition 2
  • 01m
Run
  • 19m 58s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

My garmin shows the course as 3.44 miles, but I was looking at my watch when it ticked over the 3.1 mark and saw 19:58. Pretty stoked on that as one of my goals this year was to run a sub 20 5k.
Post race
Warm down:

Finished right behind another guy. Waited for results to get posted, and wouldnt you know....I wasnt listed. They screwed up big time. Luckily they had manually entered me as I crossed the finish, so I knew I was 1st AG and 10th OA, but no splits.

Waited for the awards, got my medal and headed home.

Event comments:

Great race. Bummed on the timing issues, but its not a huge deal. had a great time and very first AG win!

Good race.

You probably placed higher than 10th though.

There were people ahead of us that cut the course.  The girl that placed ahead of me - I passed her on the bike leg.  I had my absolute best bike leg ever (I was trying to catch the front of the pack) for me and when I got out of the pool - she was somehow ahead of me.  I have no idea how that's even possible.

I wasn't able to stick around for the awards.  I'm assuming they didn't give out AG awards.

Yeah, it was pretty screwy with the loops. They did give out awards three deep in AG. Basic medals, but they did have them.

Total bummer then.  I should have stuck around.  I placed 3rd in my age group and thought they just did top 3 in female and male.

Oh well.  No biggy.
