I'd be interested in joining a team as well if there's any open spots.

You have to go to the Ragnar Del Sol website and register. It doesn't cost anything until you join a team. When you register be sure you click on "looking for a team". I didn't understand that until last weekend. If I had registered sooner I might be on a team by now.

Thanks for the info!  I did decide against running the Ragnar, though, as I'm looking to buy a tri-bike and $160 definitely helps towards that.  Oh well, maybe next year!

How'd everyones race go? It was COLD up in Wickenburg for the start! Not many times where I wasn't cold...glad I had a warm blanket in the car!!

Only problem for us was the very quick transition between the 2nd leg of van 2 to the start of leg 3 for Van 1. Since the 2nd run distances for Van 2 were so short, we didn't have time to go anywhere to sleep, so we just camped out in the van at the transition and tried to sleep/rest. I didn't like running with traffic but didn't seem like there were any incidents - thank goodness! my 4 mile run up Dynamite was interesting :-)!
WTG to all the racers - esp those that had to do the 13.6 mile run and those Ultra runners that did the whole thing - wow - impressive. I certainly questioned my sanity during my 2nd run when I wasn't feeling that great. All in all, another great RAGNAR! Now go take a nap everyone :-)!

Had a freaking blast out there!  Definitely doing it again and the toughest decision will be to go ultra or not.  As much as I want to run more I had such an awesome team it would suck to not race with them again.

Team Uno (The Work Out Group) had a great time, despite getting lost, an injured teammate, and a migraine.

I had a blast!  It was so much fun....almost like running summer camp for adults.  I was freezing though and I felt like I couldn't warm up.  So I will need to prepare better next year.  And I agree that the transition for van 2's second leg was way too short.

Team SuperONE had an incredible journey, which ended in a 2nd place in division - total time 28:19:58.

What an awesome experience Ragnar turned out to be - I am definitely a fan and already committed for 2014.

Being in van 2 with an 8:00 team start it was nice - no early morning, casually get to the first major exchange, relax.  Our van was quite comfortable, with a dedicated driver (which is a huge bonus), and with the exception of a 10 minute delay finding exchange #10, and another 10 minute delay at the last major exchange (we were there, just did not know our runner had gone all-out and finished early), we had a great driving experience.

My legs were #9 (yes, the 13.5mi uphill run of boredom), #21 (1:00am start) and #33 (downhill 5K along Via Linda in Scottsdale).  The long leg was fun and challenging due to the uphill grade and headwind.  My 1:00 run was my favorite, even though it was cold and I chose to go with short sleeves (I ran at a 7:30/mi pace for 5mi) - I just thought it was fun watching the red blinking lights in the distance and working to catch them all.  However, this was the one leg where I was passed (only happened once the entire race).  My last leg would have been incredible had I not been stopped at 2 major stoplights for about 2.5 minutes (6:58/mi pace without the delays).

I still managed 32 "kills" throughout the race, and our team went in luxury as we had a hotel room in Anthem to shower and rest after our first cycle, then a morning stop at an awesome gym/club in Scottsdale after our second cycle (hot tub, showers and couches to rest on).

I can only hope everyone had as much fun as I had this past weekend - it far exceeded any expectations I had.

Didn't realize you guys went into 2nd, awesome job!  SuperONE was definitely laying it down out there!  Did you let some WildONE pass you on that 1:00am leg?  Definitely was my favorite leg as well, think it was partly due to the lack of sleep and the pitch black night.  That 13.5 definitely was made a bit more challenging because of that dang headwind, that was just flat out cruel!  Caught the same two lights on the fast 5k, frustrating but what else can you do?  Being the first time for myself I was initially a little bummed I didn't get to run more but post run I find I really liked the three completely different distances as they set up like three completely different races; a threshold half mary, a step above a 10k pace and then a redlining 5k...awesome stuff!

Great job everyone!  I was at the finish line volunteering with my ONE team members. Seeing all the different teams cross the finish line with so much excitement and so many smiles was an awesome experience!!

Yeah, you were my only "got killed" throughout all my legs.  You went flying by me on that very dark and quiet road at 1:15am-ish.  I suppose if you are going to be passed by someone, having it be someone in your own multisport club is a bit more acceptable.

I didn't realize until I had gotten in the van that after you finished that leg, your van had not yet arrived!  Not fun standing around in the cold at that time of the morning. Smile

A nice write up and a great time!  This was my first Ragnar and we're talking about Vegas this fall.

I was #5 on the Too iNspired to be Tired team.  We have the distinction of being DFL!  but we made it it and didn't get a lick of help.  My slow butt had 4 kills in the race and was killed about 300 times ;-)

While I liked my 1:30am run, I think my third leg was my favorite because I was frankly delirious!  That and my perspective was absolutely spot on.  This was fun and the challenge was what it was all about.  You absolutely EARN your Ragnar medal and car sticker.

Congrats to all the competitors!

I think I saw your team - or maybe I just remember the name from the team lineup. That's great that you're considering Vegas. I kind of want to try another race, but there's part of me that thinks that one per year is plenty Wink

We were Van1 and it was me and five women... The younger ladies took over the decorations and we became the GlamVan.  We had a lightup set of lips on the back with "Kiss My..." written on it.  :-)  A good time was had by all.
