Hey guys, went to register for B2B half before the price goes up and the event has only 200 or so spots left.

Does this usually sell out before September ? Cant remember. Trying to talk some buddies into doing it with me.

Last year half filled up early August. Full did not fill up (almost, but not quite) . BUT this time last year the full still had something like 300 spots left. So keep an eye out, and if you definitely want to race, why not sign up now?

The B2B facebook page stated that slots for the half and full are close to selling out. If you're on the fence, it may be time to choose.

Half is full, ya'll! Charity slots are the only option.

Full is approaching the 100 spots left mark.

I signed up this weekend for the B2B half. Any suggestions on where to stay?

Lots of people stay downtown because that's where the race finishes (either at the Hilton on the Comfort Suites). I seem to remember a thread about lodging on last year's forum if you want to do some digging.

Best Western Riverfront. Very convenient to Packet Pickup, T2, Finish Line and race morning shuttles. If you get a riverview room, then the run course will go right by your window.

I still say the Sunspree, over in Wrightsville Beach. Close to T1, they shuttle you there, and it's right on the beach.

The only thing is that you'll need a ride back after you finish the race.

I am booked at the Sunspree- but this will be my first B2B. What time does their shuttle usually leave the hotel?

I think they have a couple shuttles.
You doing half or full? When I did the half and stayed there my wife drove me to T1 (1mi) I pumped tires etc and then went back to hotel to chill until the start of the Half. Sunspree is a good choice in my opinion.

Signed up for the Full- my first B2B and my first full.

The September YMCA Triathlon in Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach was my first Tri, so I am looking forward to getting back.

I will be at the Best Western Riverfront, hope to see some of you guys there. Just about two months out now! Just signed up for the OBX half on 21 September as a fun race tune-up for the B2B full. Okay, time to go hit another 100 on the bike, cya.

let me know how this race is. I am new to the sport after working the IM Raleigh I decided I wanted to try it. I have done 2 sprints with 3 more planed including EI in October, with the goal of doing the B2B next year. I planned on the 1/2 but signed up for the tobacco road marathon and depending on how that goes may do the full instead.

This will be my first half and after reading through the B2B rules, etc I gave a total noob question...

At T2 when you hand your bike off to a volunteer...where does it go from there? I know this is done all of the time but I'm just anal enough to be leary about handing off my race bike to a stranger and have to worry about its whereabouts and condition.

Awesome, you got the bug at the IM Raleigh! I ran that one this year and that was a pretty brutal run with the heat and hills, but I love to embrace the suck! IM puts on a good event. I did the OBX half iron distance last year and it was a lot of fun. Not nearly as many people as an IM event and so it can a comfortable introduction to that distance. Are you thinking about the full or half B2B next year? If the full, using the Raleigh 70.3 in June and the OBX 70.3 next September can be a good work up to the full in October. Maybe throw in an Olympic distance for fun as well. The B2B will be a culmination of 2 years of solid training for the 140.6 for me, so enjoy the journey!

They rack it. You'll know where to look by the range of numbers. For example, if you're 558, you'll look in the 550-560 range of numbers on the racks.

Yep. They rack it. If you're worried about it's safety, don't be. They control the area pretty tightly.

The plan is the full. I am running a marathon in March (tobacco road) that will be the decision between 1/2 or full. I am doing 5 sprints this year including EI. Next season I plan to do a few sprints including azalea an Olympic and a HIM (following the "iron fit" competitive program).

Anyone know someone still appearing on the registered list for B2B Half that isn't going to make it? I'm registered for the full, but my doc won't clear me to race it. I contacted the RD about dropping down to the Half, who said no because it is filled, no spot, no numbers left, etc, so I'm trying to locate a spot that may go unused. Please let me know. Thanks!

Just found out that myathletelive GPS tracking device I was going to order from myathletelive.com for the B2B Full is not available 18-28 OCT, c'mon really! Anyone know of a similar website or company that will send a tracking device so family can track me?

Just checked and WalMart (dot) com is advertising the Garmin GTU 10 for $115. Not sure how that compares to renting a unit but it will be yours to keep and you can use it over and over again. Would probably come in handy for long training days as well as race days.
