Subject: Finding a local running buddy
Hey all,

I was just wondering if anyone ha any tips on finding a running buddy around where you live. Figured it would be nice to have someone to do evening runs with to help keep the pace honest.

Obviously I'm mainly interested in someone that runs around my pace and distance, I'm just not sure what the most efficient way to go about finding that would be.

If it is relevant, I live in Chicago. Any input would be much appreciated.

I recommend www.meetup.com - Totally free to join.  I'm sure someone has started a running meetup group you can join.  You will also find meetup groups for other things you are interested.  Someone has started a "meetup" for almost everything.

We have a meetup here - people post their runs, and others can RSVP for them.  It's really a pretty useful site.

I would check out local running stores or tri clubs in your area. I know that all the local running stores in Baltimore put on atleast 2 weekly runs a week and also have training groups you can sign up for while training for HM or marathon. I am sure a city as big as Chicago has to have the same thing.

Also, post this in the Illinois forum.  I bet someone can point you in the direction of group runs in your specific area.

Get a dog. The right dog will run when you want, as often as you want, as far as you want, and at whatever pace you set
