MULTI-SPORT PROMOTIONS
60F / 16C
Overcast
Total Time = 00m
Overall Rank = 361/601
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 38/54
Pre-race routine:

up early with coffee and a bagel and a half lite stretch and lots of water
Event warmup:

got there early had a chance to get my spot in transition and then go for a 10 minute run and a short little ride maybe 5 minutes. Did boby marking and then got wet suit aon and went down to water and did 8-10 minutes of easy swimming
Swim
  • 41m 40s
  • 2000 meters
  • 02m 05s / 100 meters
Comments:

Got off to an easy start and tried to pick up aldraft, kept trying not to bump the toes in front of me, kept draft until first marker buoy and then looked for someone alittle faster and followed them until 3rd buoy when I lost the draft and swam the last 400m on my own.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing different I am not the best swimmer so for me it is just about getting out of the water and not expending to much energy out there
Transition 1
  • 03m 25s
Comments:

Took my time in transition as I was not really in ahurry wanted to make sure I had on all my gear and that I did'nt forget anything
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 3h 19m 47s
  • 91.8 kms
  • 27.57 km/hr
Comments:

I am not a strong biker and was pacing myself on the ride, I dropped my chain on a shift to the big ring and had to get off to put it on but other than that it was uneventful. I need to push mysself more in training to get used to riding at ahigher pace for longer distances
What would you do differently?:

Work a little harder
Transition 2
  • 02m
Comments:

Tried to get my shoes on quickly, did okay had all my stuff handy so it was fairly easy
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 1h 49m 58s
  • 20 kms
  • 05m 30s  min/km
Comments:

Might have gone out a little fast but slowed into a comfortable pace and held it the whole way, ran for 15 and walked for 1 and slowed for aid stations and a bathroom break. Had a chance to run the last 50 m with my 6 1/2 year old son so it was really a nice way to finish the race.
What would you do differently?:

Run is my strenth so I was happy with it
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched alittle and ate lots of food and then stood in lake for 15 minutes with kids

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Need to train at a higher intensity level to raise performance

Event comments:

A good preview of what I am doing in preparing for Ironman Canada in August
