Subject: Inexpensive carbon wheels, or custom handbuilt?

Hi all,

So looking for a new set of wheels to upgrade the stock Felt TTR4 on my Felt B16.  I don't have $2K to spend on wheels, and am thinking of something in the $750 range.  For that dough, I could pick up a pair of the cheaper carbon clinchers (Flo, Planet-X) new, or some of the higher end carbon clinchers used.  Alternately, I could go with a custom hand-built aluminum setup with a 30-40 mm deep rim, Chris King or White Industries hubs, and custom spokes.

Anyone have any info or experiences they'd like to share with any of those options?

I'm about 200#, so I'm looking for something fairly robust to use for both training and racing.

I'm kinda in the same internal debate, and my thoughts are this:  keep the TTR4's for training, go FLO 60/90 for races.

I'd either go with the FLO 60/60

or get a Hed H3 up front and a cover for your rear.

but in the meantime- if you've got $750 to spend-  Get a Powertap.  That will allow you to improve your time more than the wheels- by optimizing your pacing.

If trying to save money I would go with planet x. I've heard really good things about them and they are $400 cheaper.

Flo's and PX are both nice. Flo are more aero yet more money and probably a little better wheel. BUT the PX are still nice especially for the price.

I intend to buy a set of Flo 60's for training and racing and use a wheelbuilder disc for races.
