What are some tips on signing up for a fast selling out IM? What will I need in front of me. I'm sure I'll need USAT card, credit card, etc... in front of me, but I'm wandering if you have any other suggestions.

My downfall was answering all the questions. They ask a lot of biographical things that you can just skip or put na in. I lost entrance into IMFL by about a minute because of this.

For IM Florida, I set up two computers and started pushing "register now" over and over again about 30 seconds before the hour.  All I needed was USAT card, credit card, and health insurance information.  I also recommend skipping all of the non-mandatory questions.

Yes, you can.  This may only be through Active but since that's how you sign up for IM races, you're all good!

I type out my credit card number on MS word, do a 'copy' so when you get to the 'enter credit card number' all you have to do is paste it in.

This years IMLT didn't have a bunch of silly questions like in years past, hopefully that will be the norm.

Also, it asks about medical conditions, medications etc. At race registration you will have a chance to enter, add, change, update these so I don't get hung up on them during sign up.

^^^ this I signed up for AZ this year and signed up for Florida next year with the above game plan. When you skip the questions just put a period and move on.

I have dual monitors set up which helps. Especially when one page freezes up like it did today with AZ but I got the second page through..Yeah!!! Also test the active.com website and make sure your passwords work, credit card, and USAT member number. And type FAST. Lol

If you get through the intro page where you enter all your information (name, address, USAT #, etc) and it says SOLD OUT do not give up!!  I just got into Arizona a little while ago.  I had 3 windows open on my browser and I kept entering the active.com REGISTER page in each window until one of them finally gave me a "registration slot" (not entered race yet though).  I entered all my info and hit "enter" thinking I would be taken to the page to enter credit card info but it just gave me a message that said SOLD OUT.  I did not close that window but kept at at the SOLD OUT stage.   I kept hitting the enter button over and over every 30 seconds or so for literally 15 minutes.  Meanwhile, on the other 2 browser windows I kept trying to enter active.com and it would simply say "ON HOLD" as it was processing other people (like me on the 3rd browser window) that it let by the first registration hurdle.  Finally, I hit the enter button another time on the 3rd browser window and it put me through to the payment page.  This all took about 25 minutes and I almost gave up before then but I kept trying.  Persistence is the key.

If you can, volunteer for the race the year before.

Guarantee your entry and it's always an amazing and rewarding experience.
