Does anyone know if Garmin offers black Friday or cyber Monday deals on the 910xt? I have a birthday coming up and that would make a good present to self

Trisports has a promo code, GOBBLE, for 25% off... but for what ever reason it won't work with the 910 when I try to apply it.

Many promo and discount sales will exclude certain items; Garmin usually maintains pretty good price controls on whatever their "latest" product is, so you don't often see it offered for less than the standard price ($400 for unit, $450 for "bundle").

DC Rainmaker is keeping a list of some big sale items; didn't see the 910XT on it, but there's some pretty good offers out there on lots of goodies...

***UPDATE***

The Black Friday sale at Art's Cyclery is now live...25% off everything, and looks like it can be applied to the 910!  Use the code "BLACKFRIDAY" at checkout, just tested it with a 910 and looks like it works.  $300 is a STEAL for one of these!

Yep, I just ordered (11-21-12 noon) a Garmin 910XT for $299.99 total with free 2 day shipping. Cool

Thank u for the heads-up Stillmanji.

Caution--Arts 910XT for $299.99 does NOT include the chest strap and for some reason the Garmin chest strap they sell does not list the 910XT compatable. (may b a typo).

A handful of very lucky people got a 910xt at SBR NYC for $225 Surprised In store only have confirmed though, online orders people have been getting emails about cancellation/not in stock.

The black friday thread will probably be on the first page of tri talk for the next week so keep checking that for updates.

Garmin website deals go live 5pm CST today with deals up to 50% off.  IMO not going to be the 910xt though, its one of the newest (the newest?) product in their sports watch lineup.

Not working anymore, atleast it didn't for me. Tried it with the "garmin swim" as well and nothing. Other stuff I put in the cart got discounted but neither garmin product did. Oh well....

One thing worth mentioning now that I am not in retail but still in this industry:

When forum contributors who mean well by sharing a great deal on a price protected product like Garmin, etc. share a discount price with the name of the retailer on a public forum, other retailers see that. They contact their Garmin rep or Garmin directly knowing this could potentially violate a pricing/distribution rule for a given brand, in this case Garmin for instance.

Garmin would then, very, very quickly, contact that retailer and request they pull that promotion at once.

The process can take as little as 15 minutes from posting to pulling.

So, if you post an extraordinary deal on any brand that is traditionally price sensitive and/or has controlled distribution through their dealer network, that may influence the continuance of that promotion.

Also, there are people at larger companies whose only job is to surveil outlets that may countervene their dealer's distribution standards. When they find those they will make the necessary contacts to compel compliance with the distribution standards.

Consider my hand slapped.

To be honest, I think it was an error that Art's had the discount code applicable for the (new, especially) Garmin stuff. But it's not a secret deal or anything...they had the promo code plastered on their front page advertising, so I feel no regret that I burned the retailer.

Garmin is like Apple, Nintendo etc. The price is set by the manufacturer. Art screwed up by allowinG the code to work. I ordered it and was holding my breath until I saw the item actually shipped. I also didn't post about it until then. I am not surprised the code doesn't work anymore. Pity since that was a great deal...

looks like there's another site out there that's still accepting the 25% off on the garmin. it's backordered so there's potential for the order to get cancelled.

If you have a discount code, you will be able to apply it when you check out and your discount will be displayed. You may only use one coupon code per order. Please note that some of our manufacturers do not allow discounting on their products. They include, but are not limited to: Cervelo, Polar, Zipp, SRAM, Hed, QR, Kinetic, Garmin, and KASK products.

And it's not like this was the first time either.  I bought mine from Arts about a month ago using their 20% off discount code and posted about it.  I know several other BTers also took advantage of that offer.  Arts always has a Save10 or Save15 code at all times.  It has always worked with Garmins in the past so I don't think it was an error.  They probably just got caught by Garmin.  I figured that they were doing it for so long it must have been okay.

Keep an eye on Nashbar.  They had the best deal a few years back when I was looking to get the 310XT.  You should also watch for Garmin's rebates, usually for $50.

shouldn't be too much longer before we start seeing refurbished models / used ones showing up for under $300.
