Did anyone do the Philly Tri sprint today?  How was it?

Any updates on the swim for the Oly tomorrow?

I'm trying to decide if my wife should come with our little ones, or not.  The weather is looking pretty bad.

They really want to have the swim, but won't make a final decision until tomorrow morning.   Depends on how much rain we get tonight and, of course, if there are any am thunderstorms in the area.  Sounds like fall-back would be a 5k/40k/5k duathlon (blah!).

I heard the water is warm and may not be wetsuit legal tomorrow (think it may not have been for the sprint today, but didn't confirm that).  Also will be decided in the morning.

My wife & kids are planning to come unless the weather is really nasty.  My guess is it will be a lot like today.  A few bouts of rain with long patches of overcast and humid.

See you there Don!

Meaning the time wouldn't count toward ranking, or meaning wetsuits wouldn't be allowed at all?

I've got to make a decision tonight about my little guys coming. We've got one car, and I was going to spend the night in Manayunk and ride the bike in the morning so Cornelia could get a later start with the boys. Not sure if it makes sense if the weather is bad.

If it was like this morning, that would be ok. But one report I read made it seem much worse. Hopefully it won't be, but I need to make a call on this be 9:00PM or so.

Either way, I'll see ya in the morning!

Well, I think today is a reasonable guess as to how tomorrow could look.  But of course, a line of stroms could pass or stall overhead any time so predictions anybody makes are pretty wild guesses unfortunately.

As to the wetsuits, I think it could be either.  Apparently the water was 80+ today (not exactly sure how much over 80).  Over 84 and no wetsuits at all.  78-84 I believe is athlete's choice, but wouldn't count towards ranking if worn.  We need enough rain to cool off the water, but not too much that would cancel the swim.

Maybe an unnamed pharmaceutical company could release some liquid nitrogen into the river.

The water temp for the sprint was 81 degrees. As of right now the water temp is 73 degrees (12:24 AM). The river flow is also 5-6 times the volume as compared to the time of the sprint race.
