Pre-race routine:

Got up at 5:00 got dressed and had a small breakfast, banana and a yogurt and two glasses of water. It was Bryan's first race he was quite nervous and was cussing me out all morning about what did I get him into.
Event warmup:

Not much, I did some stretching before the swim and swam about 25 meters in the pool.
Swim
  • 08m 52s
  • 400 meters
  • 02m 13s / 100 meters
Comments:

Swim was good but for the first 125 meters my goggles were leaking water and I had two adjust them, finally I just took my cap off and readjusted my goggles everything was good then.

I swam a little slower than I had planned on, my goggles were giving me fits and I think this caused me to be a little bit slower. When I got out of the pool I felt great and started to hammer down on he bike
What would you do differently?:

Make sure my cap and goggles fit correctly before I start to swim
Transition 1
  • 01m 15s
Comments:

T1 went very well I had my wife hold my garmin when I exited the pool she handed me the garmin and away I went.
Bike
  • 36m 7s
  • 12.66 miles
  • 21.03 mile/hr
Comments:

I was the fifth or sixth person out of the pool on my wave of 12 I passed all but one on the bike. Was able to maintain a fast pace and felt really good
What would you do differently?:

I was only riding in the second chain ring I need to train more in the big ring and increase cadence here
Transition 2
  • 00m 46s
Comments:

T1 was good I had a good transition area and made good time
What would you do differently?:

Learn to dismount better
Run
  • 23m 15s
  • 2.86 miles
  • 08m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

The first .5 miles were tough I started to get cramps in my calves and by the time that went away my back was aching very bad. After about 1 mile things had quit hurting and was able to push a little harder
What would you do differently?:

Need to do more brick training get used to running after biking. Continue base training I think this helped at the end of the run
Post race
Warm down:

Did some post race strecthing and hung around until the award assembly

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Goggles were leaking on the swim

Event comments:

Not much for organization, the goodie bag was not exsistant but overall the race was a lot of fun. I hope next year my dad and maybe mom will do this
